After reading about this site in my local "Fiske Genealogical Foundation Newsletter" ( http://www.fiskelibrary.org ), I wanted to be sure everyone had seen it: http://nls.uk/maps which has been newly updated. There are over 1900 Ordnance Survey plans for 62 of the largest Scottish cities and towns. The plans were drawn up between 1847 and 1895 -- a bit late for my research, alas. Many of the images are at 1:1056 or 5 feet on the map to one mile on the ground, according to the article by Gary A. Zimmerman, contributing editor of the newsletter. In a few cities, the scale is 1:528 (10 foot scale)! These maps are just part of what is available in the map room of the National Library of Scotland. The National Archives of Scotland also has a large holding of maps, which according to the article does not duplicated much of the NLS collection. The NAS website is at http://www.nas.gov.uk/, and is described here: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/intro.html Maps are one of my favorite resources, and I hope you find these websites useful in your research.
