William Davidson born 1857, Woodhall , Pencaitland Parish. Illegitimate son of Janet DAVIDSON. By 1861 Janet had married Thomas LIVINGSTON, & William shows 1861 census, age 3 years, noted as " wifes son.". I cannot find William in 1871 census. What happened to him ? Janet died 1865. His birth Regd., does not name a father, however, Janet had had 2 children previously to Peter Montgomery, it is possible that William was a 3rd child of this liason. The Kirk Session records, have A Janet Davidson admonished , she had a child with Robert McIntosh, a Miner, of Cowdenfoot, Dalkeith. Either of these scenarios are possible answers.
