Hi Has been quite a while since I posted the surnames I am working on; all brick walls of course! Richard HALLIDAY, born c. 1820 married Jane KETLEY, born c. 1820 (possible daughter of John KETLEY) They had two (that I have found so far) children: Agnes HALLIDAY, 1843 Archibald HALLIDAY, 1847 Archibald HALLIDAY moved to Chelsea, England at some point, and was a soldier, living in Chelsea barracks in 1871 census. He married later that year, and lived in Chelsea and Lowestoft, Suffolk until at least 1879. His wife and children were living in a workhouse in Suffolk in late 1879; have not found any record of Archibald after that date--dead or alive! Perhaps he returned to Scotland?? I have found that Agnes HALLIDAY had a child, (Janet), but do not know who the father was. Jean Ketley was no longer living with Richard by 1850--she had a son, George, with Morris WELSH in 1850. In 1859 she had a child, Margaret, who carried the KETLEY surname. In 1881 census Jean is living with her children George WELSH, and Agnes HALLIDAY, and her grandaughter Janet HALLIDAY. No mention of a husband; George is the head of the family. I would really like to know if she married any of her "husbands"--have not yet found marraige records, nor death records for her husbands. Take care, Cindy Gilbert, in Sylvan, Ontario--where we are still waiting for summer to happen! office@Sylvan.isp.on.ca
