Hi Peter, The Ale Water is a tributary of the Eye, it rises on Coldingham Moor in Berwickshire and enters the Eye about a mile inland from Eyemouth. The only parish it flows through would be Coldingham passing between Coldingham village and the hamlet of Cairncross. A large scale map of the area can be found at www.old-maps.co.uk and look for Berwickshire then Coldingham. No doubt someone on this list can advise regarding parish registers etc for the area.
