My g4grandparents, George TALFOR of Bewcastle and Mary HODGSON of Scaleby were married by license 21 May 1772 at Bewcastle. They had 4 children: John -----christened 30 Mar 1773 at Bewcastle---the family farmed at Hillhead Ann ------christened 05 Feb 1775 at Scaleby ----the family farmed at Barclose, Scaleby William ---christened 07 Feb 1777 at Scaleby----Army Records indicate he was born near Brampton Elizabeth--christened 11 Feb 1787 at Bewcastle--the family farmed at the Nook William TELFORD, my g3granfather served in the 9th Battalion of the Royal Artillery for 23 years during the Napoleanic Wars. He married Mary BOOTHMAN in 1797 at St Cuthberts, Carlisle. Son James was christened there in 1801. William and Mary were buried at Christ Church, Carlisle.
