I have been searching the Berwickshire and Roxburghshire census records of 1841 and 1851 for any sign of John Darling who migrated to Canada from Berwickshire or Kelso about 1851 with his family consisting of himself (born about 1824), wife Elizabeth (born about 1828), Isabella (born 1844), Agnes (born 1848)and James (born 1850 in Kelso). I have not found them on the IGI or OPRs. I have transcribed all the 1841 census of Berwickshire for all DARLING entries and am in the process of doing the same for Roxburghshire for 1841 and both counties for 1851 in an effort to identify them. Has anyone have indexes of these census that can speed up the search? I have already received some info from others that I greatly appreciate. Some possibilities have come up and I am tracking them down to see if they pan out. To-date nothing has come together. Does anyone have any suggestions on a way to pin these people down that I am overlooking.
