I have been suspiscious that the family may have been from Berwick-Upon-Tweed rather than Berwickshire and am thinking of extending my search in that area and along the border in Northern Northumberland. Thank you for the information. At that time I had little interest in Family History so did not take any notes. The reason I remember is that I knew a number of people by the name of DARLING as I live in Berwick upon Tweed. For those interested this may be a point of contact.
