    3. Hi Lesley, > If he was born in Scotland, he can't be from Berwick on Tweed, because it's > in England. That's a good point to mention. It's my understanding from discussions on another list that it wasn't uncommon for some people from the area to say they were from Scotland rather than England, even though legally Berwick Upon Tweed is English......a question of individual loyalties I guess. I do know that my Rev William LIETCH's sister Isabella gives her place of birth as Northumberland on the 1841 census - of course, the family may have moved. There are a couple of interesting records I'm currently trying to confirm as belonging to my family - a baptism in Glanton in 1805 (now confirmed as my family) and a marriage between a William LIETCH and a Jane ROSS in Berwick Upon Tweed in July 1804. If they prove not to belong to my family, I'll certainly turn my attention to Fife as my next area of exploration. Thank you very much for suggesting that I look there. > If he was in the Church of Scotland, he should be listed in Fasti Ecclesiae > Scoticanae. A few years ago I had one of our Canadian Universities look him up in "Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae" without success. They apparently didn't have volume eight so perhaps I need to track that down. You mentioned that > there is one volume specially for > those Ministes known to be outwith Scotland. Do you happen to know if this might be volume eight? I really appreciate your excellent suggestions and thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. Kind regards, Eleanor
