In the Stitchill & Hume MI booklet there are a number of Leitch's, in fact 10 in total with various spellings earliest is 1721 through to 1927. These may not be the same family but Hume is in Berwickshire NOT Berwick. and we all know that ALL of Berwickshire is in Scotland, and only Berwick in England. This may be the reason that he says he was born in Scotland, maybe he meant Berwickshire. There may be Leitch's in other Berwickshire MI's, I don't have them all Marion
