Hello everyone. Can anybody help me please. I am trying to search for a Thomas RUNCIMAN who married Mary RIDPATH (1812, Innerwick). They had sons Thomas, John and William, and daughters Catherine, Mary and Jean. I need to find out where they lived on the 1841 and 1851 census reports, however I do not have access to either. I think they lived in the Berwickshire/East Lothian area as John, their son was married to Isobel Palmer (Pilmuir) in 1840 in Ladykirk, Berwick. All of Thomas's children were christened in different parishes such as Coldingham, Innerwick, Oldhamstocks. I really want to find Thomas's parents and hopefully they might have been living with him at the time of the census of 1841 in particular. If anyone comes accross the RUNCIMAN name I would love to hear about it- my family is very vast and it would take an awful long time to write down everyone I am trying to trace. I am only searching for RUNCIMAN's but if there is any info on the spouses of RUNCIMAN men or women I would also be interested. Thank you for taking the time to read this and good luck with your own searches. Alethea.
Hello I am searching for the roots of my 5th great grandfather, James Weldon (Welden), b.1680, Springfield, Hampshire (now Hampden) County, MA, USA. He m. Mary Lamb in 1707 at Springfield. They settled in the town of Glastonbury, Hartford County, CT, USA. There were five children from this marriage. Mary died before 1726 and he married Experience Lamb from Glastonbury, Hartford County, CT, USA in 1726. There were five children from this marriage, bringing the total children from both marriages to ten. James d. at Glastonbury in 1767. All references to nationality point to England, possibly Northumberland Co. James's father or grandfather may have emigrated from Northumberland to Massachusetts between about 1625 to 1680. To date I am stuck at 1680 for James. Thank you in advance for any help that I may receive through this mailing list in my search for the roots of James Weldon. Hello all Interested to know if anyone else is researching the family of John INGLIS and Janet WILSON. I have no birth or marriage dates for them, but they had 4 sons between 1822 and 1829, baptised in the parish of EDROM and John was described in the OPR as being a groom at Blackadder House. By 1831 they were in Edinburgh as son no. 5 was born in St Stephens, Edinburgh. 1841 census sees them, with some of children in HOWE St, Edinburgh, and 1851 in DUNDAS Street. John died in 1869, parents given as Robert INGLIS and Elizabeth MORE, whom I cannot trace and Janet died in 1870, parents given as John WILSON and Jane KEMP. The latter were in Edrom in 1818, as their daughter Margaret was born then. I haven't been able to find John INGLIS and Janet WILSON on the 1861 census in Edinburgh. I originally picked the family up in the LDS personal ancestral file, there it is suggested that three of the sons went to the States, and a fourth to New Zealand. One son, my gggrandfather remained in Edinburgh, and I have found him and his family without too much difficulty. The other children I have not been able to find, and suspect they may have died young. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + Stella Phillips + sphillips@sol.co.uk ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi again, I have found mentioned in the OPR's for Hawick and Wilton the announcement of Wedding Banns in October 1850 for my G-G-G-Grandparents. I am wondering what Churches these would have been announced in? I would imagine it would be the 'Church of Scotland' ? Does anyone know which denomination the OPR's were primarily taken from and the actual parish churches that existed around the 1850's. I would love to be able to find the Church that my G-G-G-Grandparents were married in - or at least were members of (I'n not sure which one they were married in!) By the way - does anyone know if there are copies of early papers from Hawick around the 1850's available on film anywhere? This could be a good source of information if I was lucky! Thanks, Cameron.
Hi everyone, I have just received a copy of a death certificate of a child (Jane Clark, 4 years old - died 28/3/1857 in Hawick) and on it was stated that her burial place was 'Churchyard of Wilton'. I am wondering if any knows if this 'Churchyard' still exists, where it might be and if there are any lists of burials there that may be searched. One reason I am interested is that Jane also had a younger sister Mary Clark who died at 4 months of age just before the 1856. I don't have much information on her at all - however it is possible that the two children may be buried in the same place. Any thoughts, ideas or information gratefully received. Regards, Cameron Clark.

From my experience with Scottish monumental inscriptions, it is possible that your John Renton could be mentioned on a family gravestone, even if he died in Jamaica. It could be worth a look at transcriptions of Berwick upon Tweed MI's. Dear BORDERS Listers: Because of all the wonderful help that I have received from people on this list I have decided it is time to return the favour! I have access to the "Decennial Indexes to the Services of Heirs for Scotland: 1700-1859". If you send me the name of the "heir" together with a ten year period in which they would have inherited I will check the listings for you. The indexes give: Name of inheritor, details of the inheritance, such as name of property and type of inheritance, (special, general, etc), date it was written, date recorded, and the "monthly number" in which it was recorded. The indexes begin in 10 year increments beginning in 1700. In order to accomodate everyone I must ask that you limit the names requested to (2) per month. I will do this as long as my available time permits. In SUBJECT, please put "SERVICE OF HEIRS LOOKUP". I will be sending you what I find in a small .gif image. All for now, David Bromfield San Diego, Ca email: dbromfield@ucsd.educ Researching: BROMFIELD/BROOMFIELD & PATERSON - ECCLES PARISH 1600-1700'S

My grandfather JOSEPH EDWIN WALLACE was born in MILLOM near ULVESTON Cumberland in 1880, and a brother WILLIAM H WALLACE born 1879, also in MILLOM. Their parents were BENJAMIN WALLACE born CONISTON, Lancs. aged 45 in the 1881 c ensues. His Occupation was a Master Printer. His wife was MARGERY HALL, Also born Coniston and she had a sister Catherine aged 14, who lived with them in MILLOM I had been told that THE WALLACE family originally came from Penrith but as all the close family are now dead - I have no way of getting any other info. Joseph Wallace married a AMY MARGARET BLACKWELL born DALTON IN FURNESS originally from CRAVEN in CORNWALL. Other connected family names are SKELSEY, ROYSTONS AND STOUTS but I dot have any other info except that I do know some went to the USA. In anticipation. Best wishes Sue
