Well, now, I have been caught! I always feel like I am not a "real" genealogist, since the only research I have been doing is among my own family papers. I inherited an embarrassment of genealogical riches from some great aunts and am trying to stay focused on publishing it all to the web. For a look at my efforts, see the schmblss site below. Click on the Charles Henry Gauss family. So why did I start this list, I hear you say. Well, my 3xgreat grand father was Thomas Russell Durfee, son of Charles Durfee, son of Thomas Durfee and Patience BORDEN (1701-8102), and on and on. I gather the line is WELL known. In addition, this Thomas Russell Durfee had a daughter, Margaret Lindsay Durfee who married, according to the way I read the records, Edward Payson Borden. They had a son, Edward Shirley Borden, called Shirley, cousin to my Johns ancestors. I have a letter from him, and a copy of a genealogical chart that he constructed, and maybe some other stuff. Well, I kept trying to join the "BORDEN" list at RootsWeb, and my emails kept bouncing, and since as a donor, I could host 8 mail lists, I started this one. The upshot is that I can't contribute much research-wise until I finish my current task -- which will probably be a couple of years, at least, but hopefully you guys will use this forum vigorously. I propose to have Roll Calls every three months or so for awhile, to keep everybody posted on what everyone else is doing. Meanwhile, I am here. I will post the relevant stuff I have to the list as I get to it, although I suspect most of it has already been researched thoroughly. -- S Susan D.
