Pauli Driver Smith *****************8 Exeter Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held the 29th Day of the 10th Month 1748: Elizabeth Waren made Request to be taken under Friends Care. 23rd Day of the 12th Month 1748/9: Elizabeth Waring (Waren) some time ago desired to be taken under Friends Care: this Meeting finds nothing against Re­ceiving her. From: The Minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting of Women Friends, 1737-1789, page s 56, 57. *************** At our Monthly Meeting of Women Friends held at Exeter the 31 st Day of the 6th Month 1749: Joseph Boone and Elizabeth Waren Pub­lished their Intentions of Marriage with each other; it being the first time, Jane Hughes and Eleanor Lee are appointed to Inquire into the young Woman's Con­versation and Clearness from all others upon the account of Marriage, and make Report to next Monthly Meeting. 25th Day of the 7th Month, 1749: We Understand that the Young Woman that Published her Marriage last Meet­ing is with Child; this Meeting appoints Jane Ellis and Mary Lee to Deal with her, & make Report to next Meeting. 28th Day of the 10th Month 1749: The Friends appointed to speak with Elizabeth Waren (allas Boone) report they have spoke with her, & she signi­fied that she was Sorry for what she had done: so it is left to further Considera­tion. From: The Minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting of Women Friends, 1737 -1789, pages 59 & 60. ***************** Exeter Monthly Meeting held the 30th Day of the 3rd Month at Maiden Creek: We appoint Jane Hughes and Eleanor Lee to draw a Testimony against Elizabeth Boone for her indecent Behavior and Out­going in Marriage. 27th Day of the 4th Month 1751: The Friends appointed to Draw a Testi­mony against Elizabeth Boone have drawn one; and we appoint Jane Hughes and Sarah Ellis to go along with the Man Friend appointed to Read it to her, and give her a copy if she desires it.
