For those of you who are relatively new to the list, I highly recommend the archives of this list -- there is a tremendous amount of information available. You can access and search the archives of this and other lists at http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl =========================== someone questioned Jonathan's wife, was it really Mary Carter. Then there were questions about Jonathan's dau. Hannah. James Carter's Oct. 1765 will in Rowan Co., WBA:43,44, names his daughter Mary Boone and his granddaughters Hannah and Susannah Boone as well as 3 other children of James's dau. Abigail Camille [Gamble]. Exrs named were Jonathan Boone and "Cornal" Frohawk. William Bryan [Jonathan's bro-in-law] was witness. On Oct 9, 1765 at court, Jonathan Boone [and Frohawk] refused to admr the estate of his wife's father. William Bryan proved the will. the proof is capped by this 1797 information - Jonathan and Mary are still married: [from the archives:] Subject: [BOONE-L] Jonathan Boone Date: Mon, 08 May 2000 21:59:29 -0500 From: prechan To: BOONE-L@rootsweb.com Deed Abstracts of Warren co KY 1797-1912 Deed Books A1, B2, C3, D4, E5 Page 41 4 July 1797 Jonathan Boon and wife Mary Boon appoint Phillip Bush of Mercer co KY their lawful attorney in name of Mary only as heir at law of James Carter, decd, late of County of Rowan, St. of NC, concerning land in County of Cecil and state of Maryland (50 acres) purchased by William Rumsey, now deceased. Land now in possession of John Wiston. Wit: None. ______________________________ as for Jonathan and Mary's daughter Hannah. She married first in Rowan County on April 12, 1779 or thereabouts [I think that's the bond date], to Nathanial MORGAN. Nathaniel Morgan was killed by Indians near Bryan's Station in March of 1780 - about mid-month. I believe that Jonathan & Mary & fam. returned to NC for awhile abt 1780. I have information that Hannah's next husband was Samuel Kirby, whom she may have married in Surry Co. This couple moved to Alvaton, Warran County, KY in ca.1789 and may have lived near to Jonathan & Mary Carter Boone for awhile in that area. That's all I know. Kathryn
