We also descend from this family. I own a copy of this pension book as well as copies attained through NARA. He does state that he was the nephew of Daniel and as a young adult lived with Daniel, joined the same regiment (Spangler's), and have yet to find the connection. Surely some Boone researcher can help us since the sibling of Daniel and John's father died early in his (John's) life. John C. Dawson John C. He was my 5th great grandfather. We've never been able to verify the relationship to Daniel Boone, but a lot of people have tried. The Draper book suggested that he was the son of Isreal, but that has been disproven. > > I descend from his son Lewis, who was married three times and about 17 children. > > Bill Johnson > Harrisburg, Pa. > > > Arthur Hopkins <ahopkins@seanet.com> wrote: > Dear List, > I had several questions about this, so I'll respond to the whole list. > > I found this on HeritageQuest Online through our local library. > One of the search tabs is for Revolutionary War Pensions. Israel Boone ,brother of Daniel, died June 25 ,1756 at the age of 30 . Buried near Mocksville NC. he died of consumption ,his wife died earlier of the same. There is no record of her name ,probably because they "married out" of the Quakers and no records kept. Israel had 4 children Jesse, b. 1748 Jonathon ,b.21 nov 1750 Elizabeth, b. 28 nov 1752-53 Sarah(Sallie),b. 1754 There is evidence that Jesse was raised by Daniel and Rebecka and Jonathon may have been too. In "Doctor Hodges book" "Jesse Boone was a son of Israel, brother of Col. Daniel Boone" From notes left by Daniel's son Nathan and wife"Jesse was mainly raised by daniel Boone and wife." Daniel had married only 2 months after his brother Israel died and Jesse's granddaughter,Mrs Sarah Henderson said"His parents dying when Jesse was young,he lived in Daniel Boone's home" Could the "John Boone " in your family be Jonathon Jesse"s brother?
