Some seem to be wondering where the Kentuckyans may have procured their salt peter for making gun powder. In the Hocking Hills of Ohio, near Logan, are the Salt Peter caves. They have been open to the public. The guide explains that both early settlers and Indians got salt peter from these caves, some coming from very far away. I know that the Ohio territory was not foreign to Daniel. There is a good possibility he, or his companions, were here. Barbara Dunn Boone descendant [email protected]
