Per his Revolutionary War record he states he moved to Rowan Co., N.C. when very young with his parents. He served 3 terms from Rowan Co., N.C. during the war and in 1778 moved to the Holsten Settlement. After the war he moved to Guilford Co., N.C. It is believed that he married about 1778 at the Holston Settlement Anna STARNES b. 14/17 May 1760, Mecklenburg Co., N.C. d. 1819 Guilford Co., N.C. and both buried at the Frieden Lutheran Church Cem., Gibsonville, N.C. He married second to Elizabeth BARRINGER, (widow of George PITTS) b. 5 Dec 1781/1783 d. 1821, daughter of John Paul BARRINGER (1721-1807). He then married a third time to Anna MONTGOMERY.
