    1. [BOONE-L] Two William Boones in MS
    2. Dawn Driskell
    3. I have a copy of some research done by another researcher that states there were two William Boones in early south Mississippi. 1. William Boone was born about 1780 possibly in VA and died in Pike County, MS about 1823. He was the son of Frederick Boone and Sarah. He married Penelope, born about 1787 and died after 1840 in Pike County, MS. He was listed on the Burke County, GA militia list in 1819.He was on the Pike County, MS tax lists for 1820, 1821, and 1822. He was also listed on the 1820 Pike County, MS census with 2 males <10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 2 females <10, 2 females 10-16, 1 female 26-45. The 1830 Pike County, MS census was lost. Penelope Boon is listed on the 1840 Pike County, MS census, age 50-60, with 1 son age 20-30, 1 son age 15-20, and 4 daughters age 20-30. 2. William Boone was born about 1780 in SC and died about 1841 in Rankin County, MS. He married Rebecca. The researcher found a marriage record in Wilkinson County, MS in 1809 for William Boone and Rebecca Smoot, but he was not sure if this was the same couple. Rebecca was born about 1788 in SC and died after 1860 in Rankin County, MS. He is found on the 1830 Rankin County, MS census, with 1 male <5, 2 males 5-10, 1 male 10-15, and 1 male 50-60, 1 female <5, and 1 female 40-50. He is thought to be the son of Joseph Boone of West Feliciana Parish, LA, and the grandson of Jonathan Boone (b.1730, d.1808, brother of Daniel Boone). Does anyone have information on either of these Boone families of early Mississippi?
