Hi List members, this e-mail was sent to me by Leslie Barkley and she is searching for her Boone relations. Hi~ My name is Leslie Barkley, and I am in the process of trying to unravel links into the Boone family myself. My great great grandfather John Snoddy is buried (along with his wife Lucinda McCord Snoddy) in the Harrisburg Cemetery, only 18 inches away from a Mary Boone. No doubt at that time, there may have been several 'Mary Boones'. Since your inquiry gave no time reference, I don't know if perhaps there is a connection? If not the same person, then perhaps a relative? In those days it was common practice to name children for grandmothers, aunts, etc. Mary Boone (as I personally copied it off her grave marker) says: Wife of Harry Newhard Born Sept 17, 1850 Died Dec 13, 1876 Aged 26 years, 2 mos and 26 days Additionally, she is buried beside: Martha B. Boone Born Oct 12, 1822 Died Dec 2, 1900 and: Evans Boone Born Nov 6, 1821 Died April 21, 1861 There is also a 'family legend' in my grandmother's family (Snoddy/McCord) that said that somewhere the two families inter-married. Given the proximity of the gravestones in what was, at one time a very prestigious cemetery, it lends credence to the claim. Do you have any additional information that might reference this? I have not as yet had a chance to personally research Dauphin County information, and unfortunately, there is way to much for them to put up on-line....but any leads you may have would be appreciated!
