    3. MOSES4 WILSON (THOMAS3, J. THOMAS2, JAMES1)1 was born Abt. 1788 in Henry Co., VA, and died Abt. 1851 in Russell Co., KY. He married ANNA STEPHENS1. Notes for MOSES WILSON: MOSES8 WILSON, was born Abt. 1788 in Henry Co., VA, and died Abt. 1851 in Russell Co., Kentucky. Moses Wilson Sr. is mention as one of the original settlers of Boonsborough. As such all descendents of Moses Wilson Sr. are eligible for membership into the Society of Boonsborough, Richmond, KY. According to a history book I once read on early Boonsborough a certain Moses Wilson and his family who lived outside the walls of Ft. Boonsborough were attacked by Indians and subsequently a group of soldiers. Moser served with Captain Holder's Company. Per Charles E. Wilson Book "Descendants and Ancestry of Simeon Everett Wilson" - Published by C B Wilson Publications ------ I found Moses to be the son of Thomas Jr.Not Thomas Sr. based on Charles E. 1. George BOONE family, Montgomery Co., PA
    2. Bill Cribbs
    3. From a 1883 magazine: RICHARDS; EVANS; BOONE Referring to the article in No. 1, Vol. VI., of the PENNSYLVANIA MAGAZINE, by Mr. Louis Richards, of Reading, on the "Descendants of Owen Richards," I can add some facts concerning persons who were no doubt of Owen Richards's immediate family. The Friends meeting records at Gwynedd (Montgomery County), and Radnor (now Delaware County), show the marriage of three children of Rowland Richard, of Tredyffrin, Chester County ; and Rowland, no doubt, was the close relative (probably a brother) of Owen, the presumption being sustained in part by Mr. Louis Richards's suggestion that Owen, before moving to Berks County, probably lived in Tredyffrin. The marriages referred to are these: 1722. At the house of Katharine Richard [Tredyffrin ?], 8th mo. 10th, Cadwalader Evans, son of Evan Pugh [ap Hugh], of Gwynedd, and Sarah Richard, daughter of. Rowland. late of Merion, deceased. [Certificate signed by 42 witnesses.] Radnor m. in. records. 1726. At Gwynedd meeting-house, 2d mo. 21st, Samuel Richards, son of Rowland; of Tredyffrin, Chester County, deceased, to Elizabeth Evans, daughter of Owen of Gwynedd. [Among the 54 witnesses were Rowland and John Richard's.] - Gwynedd m. m. records. 1729. - At Gwynedd meeting-house, 3d mo. 2d, Robert Evans. son of Owen, late of Gwynedd, deceased, and Ruth Richard, daughter of Rowland, fate of Tredyffrin, deceased. Radnor m. m. records. Robert Evans, named in the last record, died at Gwynedd, in September, 1746. His wife, Ruth, survived him, with nine children living, and a tenth expected, as appears from Robert's will. The will appoints Samuel Richards, "my brother-in-law," a trustee, this being the Samuel who had married Elizabeth Evans in 1726. These several Gwynedd marriages show a close connection of the Richards family and the Welsh families at Gwynedd, which is further illustrated when Mr. Louis Richards mentions that the appraisers of William Richards's estate in Oley, Berks County, in 1752, were Ellis Hughs and George Boone. Ellis Hughs, as he surmises, was indeed a Welshman. He was the son of John Hugh, one of the first party of Gwynedd colonists (1698). Ellis married Edward Foulke's daughter, Jane, in 1713, and subsequently removed to Oley, his descendants being numerous in that region at one time. The other appraiser of William Richards's estate, George Boone, was the uncle of Daniel Boone, of Kentucky (as stated by L. R.); and he, too, came from the neighborhood of Gwynedd. At least two marriages of the Boones took place at Gwynedd, and are upon the records of that monthly meeting. One was that of his sister Mary to John Webb, 7th mo. 13th, 1720; and the other of his brother, Squire Boone, to Sarah Morgan, daughter of Edward, 7th mo. 23d, 1720. Among the witnesses at the first marriage were George (the appraiser), Squire, and Benjamin Boone; and at the other, James Boone. Squire Boone was the father of Daniel, the pioneer. He and George then lived in or subsequently removed to Berks County, Daniel having been born either in Bucks County, probably in New Britain Township, or possibly in Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County, at or near Gwynedd. West Chester, Pa. HOWARD M. JENKINS Hope this helps. Bill GenealogyBuff.com http://www.genealogybuff.com

    3. We are seeking descendants of a James H. Finch, b. 1853, d. 1861 -- also, Mariah, wife of C. L. Harper, b. 1817, d. 1881. The Boone Society is beginning a project to restore and mark an old cemetery known as the Rockbridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Paris, KY (Bourbon County). Edward Boone, brother of Daniel Boone, was killed by the Indians 1780 and originally buried where he was killed at today's 870 See Road in Paris. Then in 1827 because of flooding caused Edwards bones to become exposed, Rev. Richard Thomas reburied him at the Rockbridge Baptist Church about a mile away (1139 Levy Road). The above two graves (Finch & Harper) are also at the Rockbridge Cemetery. We are interested in locating any descendants of James Finch or Mariah Harper. Rochelle E. Cochran, President The Boone Society, Inc.

    3. Dear Sharon There is a story about my Davis Boone that is interesting but maybe why I can't find any links to him. It is said that he changed his name before coming to Texas, because he may have been in trouble with the law. I can't figure out what his real name is or any evidence that he did change it. So any Davis Boone is a long shot. Appreciate any leads that might help. robin Sharon wrote: >There is a Davis H. Boone who was born approx. 1867 who was in Worth >Co., Ga. in 1880. 1. Archiving photos from negatives
    2. Joe-Nancy Stine
    3. Hi: If you are fortunate enough that your family saved old negatives, we recently discovered Best Buy had a scanner that works well. We had been looking for a long time for one that would be priced low enough for us. This one was about $175.00 It will scan negatives about 2" wide and smaller. In my case, I had to trim the margins of the negatives, but the results were well worth it. The software is user friendly. I send my scans to My Documents automatically. I then go to Adobe and open the Image file from My Docments and put the name and date on it. This is something a lot of people are failing to do while using digital cameras. (putting on names & dates) You know what that means when a few generations pass on...........no knows who they are. That is really sad! There are some folks in my family that are doing that despite my complaints. At least with old photos, it was easy to write names on them, although some people didn't even do that. So you see all these hundreds of old photos with no name at antique shops. The scanner we are using is an Epson 3170 and gets exceptional quality images whether scanning negatives or photos. You can also scan slides. If you have any questions, fell free to write. Or if you have information that be of help to me, it would be welcomed. Also, I would be glad to send you a sample old photo so you can see the results. Nancy Stine Norman, Oklahoma --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! These appeared in THE COMMON READER catalogue. ################################################################## WAGONS WEST THE EPIC STORY OF AMERICA'S OVERLAND TRAILS by Frank McLynn #013925 Paperback 509 pp $16.50 Using diaries and memoirs, Frank McLynn invites us to board the wagon trains with the pioneers who answered the call of "Manisfest Destiny" and trekked west to Oregon or California. Covering the years 1840-1849, McLynn's often touching narrative reveals that for many--the fool-hardy, the vulnerable, the unlucky--the epic westward journey was indeed a "trial of tears." with excellent period photographs. ################################################################## WOMEN'S DIARIES OF THE WESTWARD JOURNEY by Lillian Schlissel # 014173 Paperback 278pp $14.95 Vivid with the flesh and blood of pioneer women, as well as that of their husbands, companions, and families, this excellent book brings a new angle to our vision of the great westward migration of American people in the middle of the 19th century.
