    1. Fw: [BOONE-L] Joseph, son of Joseph Boone and Elizabeth Warren

    3. Subject: Re: [BOONE-L] Joseph, son of Joseph Boone and Elizabeth Warren I have found this too, for example, George Boone III had two daughter's both named Mary. However, I have not found any evidence that this occurred in Joseph Jr. and Elizabeth Warin/Warren Boone's family. Won't say that it never happened though. Until 1758 it appears that there is a 2 year space between children. Then there are 4 years between Thomas and Joseph then Sarah follows 2 years later then there is a 5 year break before Hannah then another 4 years before Abner and then 2 years before the baby Johab was born. There probably were at least some miscarriages or stillborns during some of the larger breaks, either that or Joseph was on the road for an extended period of time for which there is no evidence of. However, none of the Friend's records that I have seen, or anything else for that matter indicate that there were. Joseph lived a long life (73 years) and married. If there was a son named Joseph before him, the first Joseph would have had to been born during one of the two year breaks between the first three children (Ann, Catherine and Joseph). Doesn't seem that likely to me, but like I said, possible. It is my belief that while possible, it was highly unlikely. But, after all these years of research, I have learned that almost nothing is impossible. 3. from the archives - as I said, the archives will answer many questions you may have. I asked this particular question because I found a reference to Hannah, dau of Jonathan Boone marrying Nathaniel Morgan [who was k. by indns] & being at Bryans Station in my own research. The Kirby connection also claims connection to Daniel through Hannah, his sister rather than his niece. I've seen some info that seems to confirm that the Hannah Boone Kirby was d/o Jonathan, but have not proofed it myself. If you want proof, you might want to follow the leads, or ask the descendents of Hannah Boone Stewart Pennington if there are Kirbys. I wouldn't want to dispute anyone's DAR proof regarding Hannah, d/o Jonathan, but reserve the right to hold my own opinions. I am nearly 100% certain that the Hannah who m. Morgan WAS d/o Jonathan. 2. Daniel Paxton
    3. Is it possible that Joseph Boone (1730-1776) and Elizabeth Warren had TWO sons named Joseph? The first son named Joseph would have been born 30 Mar 1751 and would have died sometime before the second son named Joseph was born on 30 Mar 1767. It's just a thought. Anyone have any info which would confirm or deny this assertion? Take care, Daniel Paxton

    3. And Joseph Boone Jr. that eventually married Elizabeth Warren had one son Joseph Boone III he married Mary Lincoln. The question is were their two Joseph Boone's and did one die and the one that married Elizabeth Warren was the 2nd Joseph Boone. So I am confused because I only have one Joseph Boone. Who ever knows the answer to this with documentation of the second Joseph please let us know. Thank you. 1. Hannah Boone dau of Jonathan and Mary Carter Boone
    2. Debbi Geer
    3. Ok, several interesting points have been brought out about Hannah Boone who's the daughter of Jonathan and Mary Carter Boone. Unfortunately some are disageeing with others and therefore I'm getting confused and wondering what the truth is. A family in SE MO has it written up in several published county histories (1880's, 1940's and 1980's) that their ancestral grandmother was a "niece to Daniel Boone". This ancestral grandmother was married to a Wells and had at least one daughter Martha aka Patsy who married Rev Reuben Pickett Owen Sr. The family claims that William and Hannah Boone Wells was Martha's parents and have provided it in the DAR memberships via the Boone family line. What's strange is that Martha is reported as being born about 1783 in South Carolina. Her husband William was born in VA. Most of their children were born in Hopkins Co KY. This family later moved to Stoddard Co MO and spread out from there with one going to Dunklin Co MO where descendants still reside. If anyone has proof of this Hannah Boone's marriage(s), could they provide it. Also if anyone has a list of children born to any or all of Jonathan's daughters (Abigail Reed, Susannah and her unknown husband, Dinah Allen, Sarah Smith and of course Hannah and her husbands) I would appreciate it. I just want to make sure I have the Owen family connected to the right Boone descendant. Thanks. Debbi Geer __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. Debbi, Joseph and Elizabeth were probably married sometime in Aug. or September of 1749 according to the Exeter Monthly Meeting Records. Minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting, 1737-1765, pages 109, 110, 114, plus Minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting of Women Friends, 1737-1789, pages 69, 70. The meetings in the above records dealt with first of all, Joseph and Elizabeth publishing their intentions to marry - the first time (31st day of the 6th month 1749) and continue on to deal with the fact that Elizabeth is pregnant. The records end on the 31st day of the 8th month of 1751 in which John Hughes reports that he read the Testimony against Joseph Boone, Jur: according to appointment. The Minutes of Exeter Monthly Meeting of Women Friends reports that on the 27th Day of the 4th Month 1751, Jane Hughes and Sarah Ellis went along with the Man Friend to read the testimony to Elizabeth and to give her a copy if she so desired. It doesn't say if Elizabeth wanted a copy or not. It is clear from these records that Ann was born either late in 1749 or early 1750. The 1751 date probably refers to the year that the Friends finally got around to sanctioning Joseph and Elizabeth for their "outgoing in marriage." 1. Marriages of Benjamin Boone
    2. Information from the Frost and Related Families of Bedford County Tennessee by Wright Wilson Frost. Benjamin Boone (son of George Boone III) married 1st. Ann Farmer in 1726. John Boone was the only child of this marriage and it is thought he was probably reared by Squire and Sarah Boone after the death of his mother. John went to North Carolina with Squire's family. In 1736 Benjamine Boone married Susannah Lykins.

    3. I don't actually have documentation about the naming of the town of Exeter, but I would imagine the city's chamber of commerce, The Historical Society of Berks Co., etc, could give us that information. That being said, I did publish in this month's "Compass," quarterly publication of the Boone Society, excerpts from an article from Spring 1982, "Historical Review of Berks County," "Exeter Friends' Meeting 1737-1787" by Phyllis S. Grant, and in the article she states, "George Boone had great influence in naming the new township after the city in England closest to his own birthplace." We published two articles in Compass this time which dealt with early Quaker minutes, and they were very interesting. Grant also said, "The Exeter Meeting House was the first to be built in this area and remains today upon the one acre of land deeded to the Society of Friends by George Boone and his wife. The ground, given for meeting and burial purposes, was originally part of the Boone family's 400 acre tract."
