    1. Indiana Boone -- Omer
    2. xlence
    3. Herman Franke Your Omer Boone dates do not match the Omer (Homer) Boone that is the son of our missing Issac/Isaih / Joseiah/ Ezra Boone. The Omer(Homer) in this line was born 24th Sept 1846 in Madison, Jefferson County , Indiana . Caroline (Brokus/Brocus) Boone was his mother . Homer was under age for the Civil War but his older brother William was a Lieutenant in Company G of the Indiana 33rd Volunteer Infantry . Homer became a "drummer boy" for his brothers Company and they both served over four+ years in Battle of Atlanta, Shermans march to the sea , and the Grand Parade at the end of the war. Their mother Caroline Boone applied for pensions based on her son's service. After returning from the war Homer married Jeannie Dunlap who was born July 1853 in North Vernon ,Jennings County, Indiana. He worked on O&M railroad as did most of the other Indiana Boones . He later moved to Louisville , Ky . and in the early 1900's married a second wife Anna or Joanna Cunningham from Ky and they had two children, daughter Geneva and son Omer (not Homer but really Omer on the birth certificate) born about 1905/06. Homer died in 1939 at the age of 93. He lived his last years in the "Old Soldiers Home " in Louisville , Ky. He and his wife Anna are buried in Louisville , Ky. I do not have a follow up on the two children. Sorry our "Omers " didn't match but thanks for your interest and reply. Arthur D. Bartlett Artbart@xlence.com

    3. Debbie Geer Your suggestions for further research to locate our missing Isaac/Isahia/Josiah/Ezra Boone are very helpful.. Particularly in this case. In the chain of documentation for the wife ,Caroline Boone. there is a pension application form and the line for spouse says "abandoned family" . However this is not evident or repeated on any later documents. Also our Mr. "X" Boone disappears from census and Madison Indiana about 1849 . That would coincide with the Gold Rush period when 80,000 men went to California and many did not return. This scenario would support your comments about children not knowing the actual name of their father. As always every little bit helps in our research and we appreciate your input. 3. First I would like to thank the submitter of the WEDDLE information to the Boone list. Second, I do believe that the information is flawed. I might also mention that Daniel BOONE son of Squire BOONE and Sarah MORGAN didnot have a brother named John. In other words Squire BOONE and Sarah MORGAN didnot have a son names John. According to Dick OTT's remake on "Whedon's Book on Bohn's" the ancestral line for Elizabeth BOONE who m Rev Andrew WEDDLE on 21 Oct 1811 in Montgomery Co, VA (he the son of Benjamin WEDDLE and Annie Mary EILER and also heir to his father's plantation) is as follows: Johann Diehl BOHNE-BOHN and later BOONE b 1711 in Obermoshel, Pfaltz, GER salied on the ship "Marlborough," to Philadelphia in 1741. He took the "Oath of Allegiance" on 23 Sept 1741 in Philadelphia. With him was his young son Nicholas who was b abt 1736. Nothing has been found on his mother and so she remain's nameless. In April 1750 on the 10th he acquired 50 acres of land near Frizzelburg, Frederick Co, MD no Carroll Co, MD. Johann d in 1764 Frederick Co, MD and is bur in a graveyard on the corner of Mineral Hill & Pine Knob Roads. Joann Diel BOONE m2 Mary DICKER and some say Anna Marie, they had eight children. One of whom was John Bohn BOONE (p7-9 p8 is a Bio of John BOONE and a declaration that this BOONE family "was NOT related to Daniel BOONE, the Frontiersman." p9 has a copy of the will of John BOONE where is son-in-law Andrew WEDDLE and his son Jacob were appointed executors to his last will and testament. Date 24th day of February 1824.) John Bohn BOONE b 1756 d Feb 1825 in Montgomery Co, VA m Elizabeth whose maiden name is unk and they had seven children. Elizabeth BOONE b 3 Sept 1791 in Frederick Co, MD (p10 and 55) d 9 Nov 1850 Floyd Co, VA and is bur in Weddle Cem, Floyd Co, VA. (This information according to Elizabeth Nadine WEDDLE-McKINNEY) and the Tombstone confirms the dates for Elizabeth. Floyd Co was formerly Montgomery Co, VA. Elizabeth BOONE m Andrew WEDDLE b 13 Aug 1787 in Montgomery Co, now Floyd Co, VA on 21 Oct 1811. Andrew became a minister and was noted for his deep, pious Christian character. His family Bible was presented to the Topeco Church of the Brethren by his granddaughter, Mrs Amanda MITCHELL. It was printed in 1814 and has all the names and dates of birth of his 10 children. I do hope this error can be corrected and that those who desc from this Elizabeth BOONE with the thought that they are from George, 111 will finally have their correct lineage and heritage. There are many of the WEDDLE line that show the correct ancestral line. Zachariah B ALLEN b 1754 in VA d 1825 Milton, Pike Co, IL. The Zachariah ALLEN's arrived in Pike Co in 1822, he was a soldier of the Revolutionary War and of the Indian wars of George Washington's time. He served for seven years in the War of Independence and was in his old age when he came to pike Co, IL in 1822. This from "Pike County History," p 92 author Jess M THOMPSON. They had four children: Sally Boone ALLEN b abt 1781 in Warren Co, KY d 1846 Milton, pike Co, IL m abt 1814 Clark Co, KY Elijah GARRISON b abt 1779 Clark Co, KY d Milton, Pike Co, IL. This couple had four children b in Posey Co, IN and they all d in Milton, Pike Co, IL. I do have more information on this line. Jonathan Boone ALLEN b 19 Aug 1782 Blue Lick, Warren Co, KY d in Montezuma Twp, Pike Co, IL m abt 1802 in KY to Caroline whose maiden name is unk. She d 13 Feb 1826 in Pike Co, IL. Notes in Pike Co Hist, p105 say that Jonathan Allen was born on the last day of the Revolution just as his father and numerous kinsman fought the battle. Jonathan was 50 years old when he enlisted as a private from Pike Co, IL in the Black Hawk war of 1832. He was in Capt Benjamin Barney's Company, of which his brother Lewis ALLEN was a second Lt. I show one son for them Andrew ALLEN b abt 1825 in Montezuma Twp, Pike Co, IL d 8 May 1881 in Concord, Callaway Co, MO. Lewis Boone ALLEN b 11 Nov 1794 "Banks of the Green" Warren Co, KY d 8 Aug 1872 Milton, Pike Co, IL. I have an alt Whitesville, Alton Co, MO. He m1 Chloe VAN BIBBER bef 1818 in Warren Co, KY. They must have moved soon to IL as Lewis Boone ALLEN was one of the judges of election of Franklin Twp, Pike Co, IL. (This twp the present sites of Pittsfield - County seat; and Rock Island and Galena) The election year of the precint was 1824. Pike Co Hist p23. Lewis Boone ALLEN m3 Chloe CASEBIER in 1827 in Soctt Co, IL the dau of David CASEBIER and Elizabeth Chenoweth. She was b 14 Feb 1805 in Muhlenberg Co, KY d 30 Dec 1869 in Whit! esville, Andrew Co, MO. They had 8 children and I have info on them. I do have some questions about the marriages of Lewis Boone ALLEN, especially m1 to Chloe VAN BIBBER. My personal belief is that this is incorrect and that there maybe confusion since he m3 to Chloe CASEBIER. I was in Pike Co, IL at Pittsfield in June 2000 and made every attempt to find documentation in regard to Chloe VAN BIBBER. I also attempted to locate the cem in which this family was buried but was unable to find it. The fourth and last child for Dinah BOONE and Zachariah Boone ALLEN is Polly Boone ALLEN b 1805 "Banks of the Green" Warren Co, KY d 1882 in Milton, Pike Co, IL. She married Larkin THORNTON b 1800 in Warren Co, KY d 21 Dec 1878 in Milton. He was the son of Aaron THORNTON and Sarah EVANS. THey had 5 children and I also have more information on them. 1. Isaac/Isaih/Josiah/Ezra Boone

    3. I have been watching the recent list with interest to locate an Isaac/Isaiah/Josiah/Ezra Boone in Indiana during the 1800 to 1850 time frame .This is my Boone puzzle which follows: Indiana Historical Society Records indicate a Josiah Boon married Caroline Brocus(Brokus) in Madison, Jefferson County , Indiana 17May 1840. And first son William came along right on schedule 5th June 1841 , next Sylvanus 1843, Homer( Omer) 24 Sept 1846 and 4th son Melvin Dallas Boone (Sr.) in 1849. Thus we can establish that our Mr.Boone was in Madison for these nine years. However by the 1850 census Caroline and her sons are living in Shelbyville , Indiana. without a husband. And all later census records have Caroline living alone or with her children and other family members in Cincinnati ,Ohio and Seymour ,Indiana. An assumption is that bridegroom Boone would be a minimum of 17 years old and max of 35 . Thus he would kave been born 1803 through 1838 or somewhere close to that period. The problem of establishing a first name for our "Mr. X" Boone is further complicated when two of his sons join the Indiana 33rd Volunteers in the Civil War . William listed his father as Josiah Boone, Omer's records say Isahia ,pension records say Isaac , my grandmother's ( Iva Moina Boone) letters call him Ezra as did Caroline's obituary in the Seymour DailyTribune on 31December 1912 (age 93) which also indicates her one and only husband she married in Madison Indiana was named Ezra Boone. Caroline and two other related Boone's are buried in unmarked graves at Riverview Cemetery Seymour Indiana . This coming 2005 summer (when it thaws) we plan to bury a time capsule on this site. We have fabricated a water tight cylinder which will accommodate a computer disk(s) and copies of applicable family documents.. Thus it would be desirable to establish "Mr X's " Boone's real first name to include in our capsule and enhance the accuracy of the research. All suggestions and assistance is always appreciated Arthur D. Bartlett II , Jupiter , FL Artbart@xlence.com

    3. Hi Dorothy, It's good to see your posts. As you may recall, I am a "step" descendant of Daniel Boone, son of Jonathan Boone. This conversation is of very much interest to me as I also have a connection to the Wells family. If Hanna married a William Wells, I would very much appreciate it if someone would fill me in as to which William Wells and to which Wells family he belongs. 3. Hi Dorthy, Hannah Boone who married Robert Frank was actually the daughter of Samuel Boone and Sarah Day. I have a copy of a Fayette Co., KY chancery suit, which gives the names of Samuel Boone's children. Samuel Boone was a brother of Jonathan and Daniel Boone. Hope this helps... 1. About the many Jonathan BOONES
    2. dorthy mack
    3. From "More Descendants of Israel BOONE," by Alice Hannah BOONE (her second book). Alice was 91 plus years when she passed away on June 27 1983 - This from "Preface And Acknowledgements" in her book. On page 4 paragraph 3 "It must be understood that the Roman numerals following their names were not originally a part of the name, but are merely being used to indicate the orderof their birth, and to help with the indentification of each one. These Jonathan Boones, in brief, are as follows: Jonatha BOONE 1, son of Squire, Sr and brother of Israel was born in Berks County, PA, in 1730; died in Ill in 1808. Jonathan BOONE, 11 son of Israel, was born in the Yadkin Area where Squire BOONE family settled after moving from Pennsylvania, in 1750; died in Burke Co, NC in 1826. Jonathan BOONE, 111 son of Squire BOONE, Jr, was born in 1766 (probably in Rowan Co, NC before his parents moved into KY) he died in March 1837. Jonathan BOONE, 1V son of Jesse BOONE and grandson of Israel, was born in Rowan Co, NC abt 1775; died in Maries Co, MO in the 1850's. (This Jonathan is listed as Seventh Generation on p7-8 with with further info in regard to him and also lists his children.) Jonathan BOONE, V son of Jonathan BOONE, 1V, and known as Jonathan, Jr is mentioned among the children of Jonathan BOONE 1V, in the Zion Hill Church Minutes in McMinn Co, Tennessee. But after that, no further record of him as been found; the date of his birth was in the early 1800's. From 5 (or p2 of Who's Who among the Jonathan Boones) Two fo the above-named Jonathan Boones, being direct descendants of Israel BOONE, appear further on in this history, but, Jonathan Boone 1, and Jonathan Boone 111, are given with brief biographies in this Article, to establish their identity more fully, and to differentiate between them and the others. And especially is this necessary in the case of the first Jonathan because he has been frequently confused with Jonathan BOONE, 11, the reason being that both were raised by Sauire BOONE, one being his own son, and the other his grandson who was orphaned at an early age. More will be given on the latter in Section B of this Supplement, where the revised record of his family is found." She then proceeds with Jonathan BOONE, 1 son of Squire BOONE Sr and brother of Israel and Daniel. She has his be at 6 Dec 1730 b in Berks Co, PA d abt 1808 in IL. She lists sons John, Joseph and Daniel and goes on to say there were several daus. Going to p6 (p3 of Who's Who among the Jonathan Boones: "Jonathan BOONE, 111 oldest son of Squire BOONE, Jr was born 30 Aug 1766; died 9 Mar 1837. His mother was Jane VAN CLEVE. He m 11 April 1795 Mrs Catherine RICE FULLENWIDER and they were the parents of three children, Frances Ann, Isiah and Sophia." On this same page she lists another Jonathan BOONE, the grandson of Jonatha BOONE and Susannah NIXON. His father was Jesse BOONE and there are three paragraphs devoted to this Jonathan. I submit this information in hopes that it may help to clarify the many Jonathan's. Dorthy MACK

    3. Quote from Dr Hodges book "Israel Boone ,born 9 may 1726,married in Exter out of order in 1747,went to North Carolina with his father where he died early of consumption, which he was supposed to have caught from his wife who died of that disease before him" There is a lot more information on Israel's death .He was taken to a Moravian settlement that had a doctor ,spent some time there and was sent home to die. The settlement was near Winston -Salem ,about 20 miles from the Boone home. They kept records that verify it.
