Reply to Ivan D. Lancaster (21 Jan 2005) I appreciate your interest in our time capsules for the unmarked graves of three Boones buried in Riverview Cemetery outside Seymour Indiana. And it is interesting that your Lancasters also came from Jackson County and are are in the crypt at Riverview. For the record and future reference the three are Alice,Melvin, and Caroline Boone in section 122C. There are no existing markers and over the years all the Boones who were once prominent Seymour residents have passed away and their relatives long since dispersed across the entire country. My Grandmother Iva Moina (Boone) Bartlett is also buried in Riverview .And it is possible that I may be the only remaining descendent who has knowledge of these three grave sites and a record of their family associations. We plan to come North this coming summer and will bring one of our capsules that has room for computer disks , photographs, and copies of our genealogy as we know it todate. This will definitely be in warmer weather since we will have to use a posthole digger to implant the six 6"inch diameter tubular capsule below the frost line. Also the current weather reports from Indiana indicate that digging would be a little difficult at this time of year. We have already made several versions of these cylinders and can package the various size Computer disk currently on the market. The software will handle different software programs , such as PAF and GEDCOM. along with photos and text describing our Indiana Boones. As attachments to an e-mail message I will send you separately JPEG photos of several capsules we have already constructed. Thanks to my son's company, Xlence Technologies in Plantation Florida, I have access to machine shop facilities in order to fabricate these Time Capsules. When we have a definite schedule for travel this coming summer we will try and arrange an eye ball conversation and visit with you.It should be interesting to compare notes regarding our Indiana roots. My Indiana Boones were all pioneer railroad people working on the O&M as it pushed westward through southern Indiana. Bartletts were involved with the historic Seymour Woolen Mill which is still remember for Lady Seymour Blankets and their white wool Navy blankets with the dark blue anchor in the center. There is no ceremony or formal group going to be at the grave site when we plant the capsule , just us and of course the grounds keepers watching as we wield a hand operated post hole digger. Undoubtedly there will be pictures and a story about our "hole in Riverview " and we will send it off to the COMPASS We appreciate your interest in our "Boone Capsule" and will keep you updated. Northern Kentucky is the name often given to Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties, the northernmost in the state and all of which lie within the greater Cincinnati, Ohio metropolitan area. The prominent towns include Covington, Newport, Burlington, and Florence.

Sorry Herman, Jacob Boone and Mary DeHart Boone did not have a son named (H) Omer. They had three sons named Daniel, John and William DeHart. The other six children were daughters. List, I found the copy of the book I have. Shirley Middleton Moller THE GERMAN BOHNE-BOHN-BOON-BOON FAMILY OF MARYLAND BY Nellie Woods Whedon The 9 children of Johann Diel Bohne [Boone] were: i. Nicholas, stayed in Maryland ii. Jacob, went to Virginia iii. Abraham, went to Virginia iv. Margaret, stayed in Maryland v. Mary, went to Tennessee vi. John, went to Virginia vii. Catherine, stayed in Maryland viii. Elizabeth, went to Tennessee ix. Adam - no information vi. John went to Virginia From his will.... Christiansburg, Va Made Feb 24 1824 Filed Mar 1825 Will of John Boon I desire that all my estate boath real and personal be sold by executors, and the money arising from such sale to be equally divided between my wife Elizabeth Boon, Mary Boon, ELIZABETH WEDEL, Catherine Jammerson, Abraham Boon, Sariah Harter, Nancy Flegar, Jacob Boon. Lastly, I appoint to my son Jacob Boon and my son in law ANDREW WEDDLE executors to this my last will and testament. Mrs. Nellie Woods Whedon states the following: The mistaken relationship of Capt. Daniel Boone probably originated from a rumor that spread, source unknown and with no apparent proof, that a Michael Boone of the English family was the father of the children that Johann Diel Bohen named in his will. This was given some credence in Mrs. Hazel R. Spraker's book, "The Boone Family" under "undetermined Connec- tions" page 494, ans which she now considers the most serious mistake in her book. It said that Michael Boone lived and died on his farm in the Mt. Pleasant district of Frederick Co., MD., where the old stone barn he built is still standing. His grave and that of his wife are near- by. Mrs. Spraker say that there was no Michael Boone in the English family. A search of the court house records by this compiler in 1936, and also searched by others, show only one man by the name of Michael Boone. This Michael, son of Nicholas and grandson of Johann Diel Bohne, was born about 1773 and died by Jul 26, 1832, married Oct 14, 804 Mary Magdalena Burrier, daughter of Philip and Barbara Burrier. Philip Burrier died in 1803 leaving 207 acres called "Hitchbaugh" in the Mt. Pleasant district. Mrs. Spraker endorses the above correction to the error in her book, "The Boone Family", p 494. She writes that the "Michael Boone" tradi- tion prevailed in at least three branches of the family [Miller, Hoss and Pouder] before 1923, and that the error no doubt originated and spread many years prior to that date. The fact that three branches of the fam- ily claimed a Michael Boone as the earliest known American ancestor made it seem most plausible. No doubt one branch accepted it from another several generations ago. "I am glad to know, " Mrs. Spraker writes, "that your careful and analytical research has uncovered the truth and has put an end to the unfortunate perpetuation of this error." ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shirley Moller" <smoller@jps.net> To: <BOONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 24, 2005 4:24 PM Subject: Re: [BOONE-L] Elizabeth BOONE b 3 Sept 1791 m Andrew WEDDLE > Hello List, > I'm not sure if I'm understanding these past messages or not. > But I know I researched John Diel Boone of Frederick Co., MD. > All over in books and on the internet he had been placed in the PA Boone > family. > He was from Germany and came thru PA, but was not the son of George Boone > and Mary Maugridge. > I know that fact was from old research. > I did an article on him, and I cannot find it, but I know Rochelle had put > it in the Compass. > > Shirley Middleton Moller > Calif. > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Dorthy MACK" <rmack49418@comcast.net> > To: <BOONE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, January 24, 2005 3:20 PM > Subject: [BOONE-L] Elizabeth BOONE b 3 Sept 1791 m Andrew WEDDLE > > >> Due to the fact that this mail was several pages long I elected to omit >> it >> from my response as to the lineage of this Elizabeth BOONE who is the >> grandau of Johann Diehl BOHN BOONE. Hello List, I'm not sure if I'm understanding these past messages or not. But I know I researched John Diel Boone of Frederick Co., MD. All over in books and on the internet he had been placed in the PA Boone family. He was from Germany and came thru PA, but was not the son of George Boone and Mary Maugridge. I know that fact was from old research. I did an article on him, and I cannot find it, but I know Rochelle had put it in the Compass. I have resent the information regard Elizabeth BOONE b 3 Sept 1791 and Andrew WEDDLE. I made my reply in a separate EMail to avoid having 7 or 8 pages to read through. I can see that this has caused some confusion. Please read the WEDDLE family information again and my reply to the letter will then make complete sense. I hope. Thank you. Due to the fact that this mail was several pages long I elected to omit it from my response as to the lineage of this Elizabeth BOONE who is the grandau of Johann Diehl BOHN BOONE. I have elected to send it again and after viewing this letter then refer to my EMail in regard to this family. I made an error when I said that Daniel BOONE, son of Squire BOONE and Sarah MORGAN didnot have a brother named John, when the reference in the WEDDLE info referred to this Elizabeth as being the dau of Jacob, brother of Daniel BOONE. (See below.) I should have said and did correct this error that Daniel BOONE didnot have a brother named Jacob. As a matter of fact he didnot have a brother named John either. He did have a brother named Jonathan and I am not aware that he was ever called John. This has nothing to do with Jacob BOONE and Mary DEHART so please let's not confuse the issue. The Elizabeth that married Andrew WEDDLE is not a desc of George, 111 who came to Philadelphia in 1717. She is a desc of Johann Diehl BOHN BOONE. Thanks so much. Looking at when Elizabeth was born, then all of the Boones from Daniel's generation would have been a might old to be having children. Could she have been the d/o Jacob & Mary Dehart Boone? It is possible, but Jacob did not have a brother named Daniel either and his dau. Elizabeth married Simon Reeder. Yes they did Joy, but the dates are a bit off. I too wondered if she was talking about the same Elizabeth as Reeder and Weeder could be the same. Elizabeth "Betsy" Boone daughter of Jacob and Mary DeHart Boone was born 14 Sep 1779 in Limestone - now Maysville, Mason, KY, and died 16 April 1866 in Brown Co., OH. She married Simon Reeder born 1775 in Maryland, died. 1849 in Brown Co., OH on 11 Sep 1795 in Limestone, Mason, KY. They had nine children on two of which I know their names, Simon and Benjamin. The information I have in my database confirms that Squire Boone and Sarah Morgan had a son name Jonathan but not a son named John.
