    3. This is a truly odd but real question that I was just asked by my brother who is living in South Carolina. It has nothing specific to our geneology aside from the fact that we are Daniel and Rebecca Boones 5th greats. "Somewhere", he heard that direct descendents of Daniel Boone get some sort of discount when visiting Boone, SC. I've never heard of any such discount but thought maybe, just maybe, if it is true that one of you will have heard about it. I would appreciate any answers. I will be bugged until I get a definitive answer. Thanks

    3. The of Roger Turner [Jr]: I do not know if Catherine was his only wife. Fayette County [KY] records, Vol 2, by Michael and Bette Cook. "425- Whereas Levi Todd conveyed a tract of 200 acres, part of Todd;s settlement and preemption on the headwaters of the east fork of Hickmans Creek to Roger Turner, who departed this life leaving Catharine Turner, his widow, and John Turner, Daniel Bryan and Elizabeth Bryan, his wife, late Elizabeth Turner, Robert Alexander and Sarah Alexander, late Sarah turner, Jesse Turner, Joseph Turner, Mary Turner, Samuel Turner, Robert Turner, Enoch Bryan and Jane Bryan, his wife, late Jane Turner as his heirs and legal representatives. Circa 1798." by the way, Dorthy was correct that Enoch Bryan was son of Joseph of Morgan-2. Enoch was not the son of Thomas. I'd guess this Roger was the Junior you have listed as b. ca.1728/30. However, it becomes difficult to determine which refer to Sr. and which refer to Jr.) His will in Surry Co., NC was dated 02 Feb 1775 proved Nov 1778. (The portion of Rowan that he lived in near Turner's Creek was cut off to form Surry Co., NC in 1770). "Surry Co., NC Court Minutes, Vol. I & II 1768-1789" by Mrs. W.O. I have this on Roger JR North Carolina Volunteers, 1776-1782 by Charles LeCount 1999, 2003 In the summer of 1775 the residents of Rowan County's Yadkin Valley divided into factions over the crisis with England. Samuel Bryan, an owner of a significant plantation along the Yadkin River that included a mill, tavern, ferry, and fishery, was among the first prominent citizens to openly declare his allegiance to the crown It is not known whether Samuel Bryan took part in the battle, but the disastrous outcome of the action at Ramsour's Mill set in motion the formation of Bryan's regiment. After the battle, Bryan realized that he was isolated and surrounded by Whig forces. Ignoring Cornwallis's orders and despite Moore's defeat, Bryan decided to rally willing loyalists before the Whigs could inflict more punishment on the isolated friends of the King. loyalist leaders throughout the region quickly raised units of volunteers. One of these leaders, Captain Roger Turner, raised a full company by 21 June. Many of these volunteers came from the Dutchman's Creek area of Rowan County and were Germans. By 24 June, Bryan had collected around 800 men. With Whig military activity increasing in the area, he could wait no longer. John Combs Sr and his brothers, Mason Combs (Jr), William Combs, and also Godfrey Cody and Thomas Cody received public claims indents for services rendered to the Whig militia or the Continental Line, suggesting that they changed allegiance or were falsely accused. No such public claim records survived for William Cody, although he did join a Col. Daniel Trigg's Whig militia unit in 1781 in Montogomery County, Virginia. Francis Bradley, Sheriff of Mecklenburg County was indeed murdered by Tories in late 1780, and Isaac Price, a gun and goldsmith, administered the probate of Bradley's estate (9). And Surry County Tory militia units of Captain Roger Turner and Captain Richard Murphy, under Colonel Samuel Bryan, fought at Hanging Rock No pay records or muster rolls have been found to corroborate the claim that Thomas Cody was a Captain in the Tory militia, or that William, Godfrey or Thomas Cody served in a Tory unit. This what was send to me. -----Original Message----- From: John K Bryan [mailto:jkbtwo@juno.com] Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2005 9:07 PM To: monkey@getgoin.net Subject: Re: [BOONE-L] Byran family I have no marriage date for Elizabeth Turner (3 Nov 1761 - 28 Jan 1833) and Daniel Boone Bryan (10 Feb, 1758 - 28 Feb 1845) but Daniel was unmarried at the time he left Bryan's Station, KY and returned to Rowan County, NC, in the late summer of 1780. They were most likely married in Rowan County before he returned to Kentucky ca 1786. Elizabeth Turner's sister, Jane, married Enoch Bryan, a first cousin of Daniel (son of Thomas Bryan). There may have been THREE successive Roger Turners, by the way, according to a Rowan County Tax roll for 1764. The first Roger Turner served as a Lieutenant in the Rowan County Ranger company captained by Morgan Bryan Jr. during the Cherokee Rebellion (early 1760's). Morgan Jr.'s brother, Thomas Bryan, was an Ensign in the same militia company. The second Roger Turner was the Tory who served under Col. Samuel Bryan, brother of Morgan Jr. and Thomas, from 1776 to 1780 when he was caught and imprisoned. Both the second and the third Roger Turner were designated Jr. Both subsequently moved to Kentucky. In all probability, Elizabeth and Jane Turner who married the Bryan cousins, were daughters of the first Roger Turner and sisters of the second. A third Bryan/Turner marriage involved William Bryan (1780-1830), eldest son of Samuel Bryan (Daniel Boone Bryan's older brother) and Mary Turner, daughter of John Turner and probably the niece of Roger Turner, second. William and Mary were married in KY, 12 Dec 1799 . JK Bryan n Fri, 18 Feb 2005 05:09:21 -0600 "Janet Ariciu" <monkey@getgoin.net> writes: > Question; What date do you have Turner and Bryan marriage?
