    3. Hello, I posted this to the Smith Genforum but I haven't had any response. I wonder if anyone on the list has these Smith/Boones of KY and AR. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kentucky: A History of the State by Battle-Pierce-Kniffin 3 rd ed. 1886 J . P. Smith , Warren co KY was born in Phillips co AR 24 July 1824 and is a son of William and Keziah Boone Smith, the former of whom , a native of Virginia , lived there most of his life but died in AR in 1841. His father, Phillip Smith removed to Arkansas and died there at an advanced age. Subjects maternal grandfather John Boone was a native of North Carolina , and immigrated to this state in an early day, afterward removed to Tennessee where he died. Subject was about a year old when his father died and his mother returned to Kentucky from Arkansas, and for a time made her home with her father . She afterward married Rev. Joseph Franceway and removed to Greensburg, KY where they remained eight years and then returned to this county. Soon afterwards Mr. Franceway died , leaving his widow with two children : John H. and Annie F. She then married Jesse Bunch , one child was born of this union, Mary E. Mrs. Bunch died in 1876. Subject married first, Mary, daughter of Timothy J. Thomas, of Mississippi, this union was childless. He next married Mrs. Bettie, widow of Samuel Gaines, of this county, and a daughter of Wilson Ritter, of Barren county. She bore him four children : William E., Wallie G., Charles R., and Carrie H. Mrs. Smith had by her first husband , two children , John B, and Mary E. Gaines. Mr. Smith owns 530 acres of fine land, well improved. He is a member of the Christian Church and of the Democratic Party. ~~~~~~~~~ Phillips co AR records: William H. He was married first to Hannah/Henrietta Stewart who died possibly ca 1815. He next married Any (Anna ) Grider Mitchell, widow of Charles Mitchell and they raised a family of seventeen children. 1810 Warren co KY census John Boone 1 m-10, 1 m 10-16, 1 m 26-45 2 f -10, 1 f 10-16, 1 f 16-26, 1 f 45 and up 1820 Warren co KY Census John Boon 2 m -10, 2 m 10-16, 2 m 18-26, 1 m 45 and up 3 f -10. 1 f 10-16, 1 f 16-26, 1 f 26- 45 William Smith married Keziah Boone 1822 Warren co KY My 3rd GGF was Richmond Pearson Boone, brother of Keziah Boone Smith. He was born in Barren co KY 1803. I first found him on the tax list for St Francis co AR 1838 listed as R. BOON. The same listing for the 1840 St Francis co census but by 1850 he was R. P. Boone. In 1851 the Boones went to Bell co TX . RP Boone died in Kendall co TX 1887, buried in the BOONE/HAMLIM cemetery Bell co TX ~~~~~~~ I would appreciate hearing from any researchers of the above families. Thanks, Pat in OK

    3. Hi list, this e-mail was sent to me and she isn't a member for the Boone family list. If there is anyone that can help this person out, they'll appreciate it. Hi, My name is Beckey Isle. My grandmother was Opal Boone. She was born 4-29-1897. Her father was Luther Boone. He was born 11-13-1871. He married Nancy E. Robinson. They had 2 daughters. Luther left Nancy with the oldest daughter and left Opal with Nancy. Luther's father was Lorenzo Boone and he married Mary Ellen. I don't have her last name. This is all the information I have. Opal told me we were related to Daniel Boone. Can you help me find these family members? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. Larry & Beckey Isle

    3. Hi List members, this e-mail was sent to me by Leslie Barkley and she is searching for her Boone relations. Hi~ My name is Leslie Barkley, and I am in the process of trying to unravel links into the Boone family myself. My great great grandfather John Snoddy is buried (along with his wife Lucinda McCord Snoddy) in the Harrisburg Cemetery, only 18 inches away from a Mary Boone. No doubt at that time, there may have been several 'Mary Boones'. Since your inquiry gave no time reference, I don't know if perhaps there is a connection? If not the same person, then perhaps a relative? In those days it was common practice to name children for grandmothers, aunts, etc. Mary Boone (as I personally copied it off her grave marker) says: Wife of Harry Newhard Born Sept 17, 1850 Died Dec 13, 1876 Aged 26 years, 2 mos and 26 days Additionally, she is buried beside: Martha B. Boone Born Oct 12, 1822 Died Dec 2, 1900 and: Evans Boone Born Nov 6, 1821 Died April 21, 1861 There is also a 'family legend' in my grandmother's family (Snoddy/McCord) that said that somewhere the two families inter-married. Given the proximity of the gravestones in what was, at one time a very prestigious cemetery, it lends credence to the claim. Do you have any additional information that might reference this? I have not as yet had a chance to personally research Dauphin County information, and unfortunately, there is way to much for them to put up on-line....but any leads you may have would be appreciated! 1. [BOONE-L] Two special requests for assistance...
    2. Gene Ray
    3. Greetings! Here's proof that interest in the Boone line is worldwide. Jacques BOONE from Paris, France, has contacted me regarding a visit he and some friends are planning to Cincinnati and northern Kentucky beginning April 21st. He is specifically interested in meeting other Boone descendants living in the area PARTICULARLY any who speak French. This would be a great opportunity for someone in the area to meet a "distant" cousin and show them some American hospitality. If you can help this gentleman, please e-mail him at [email protected] I'm sure some of you are familiar with the magazine, Kentucky Explorer. For anyone interested in Kentucky history, this magazine is a must. They don't accept advertising, so each issue is nothing but articles about Kentucky and associated genealogy. In the latest issue a query caught my eye. Matthew Ottersback, 927 E. Washington Street, Louisville, KY 40206 writes, "Seeing information on descendants of Edward Boone, brother of Daniel Boone, who raised Edward's children. Any info appreciated." Mr. Ottersback listed his phone number as (502) 589-7053. You can get subscription information to Kentucky Explorer by writing to the editor at PO Box 227, Jackson, KY 41339. For those of you who are not members of The Boone Society Inc., you may be interested to learn that the state of Kentucky will be dedicating a Historical Marker that notes the site where Edward Boone was killed and initially buried. Descendants of Edward and other members of the Society have been instrumental in raising the necessary funds for the maker which will be dedicated at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 23rd in Bourbon County. If you are interested in more specific details, please contact Rochelle Cochran at [email protected] Gene Ray, president The Boone Society, Inc., Dan & Becky's ggggg-grandson

    2. I have been away from the list for a while, but I am now back on, and wanted to pass on some info to people who may be looking for a trace of Samuel Willard Boon. It seems the Miami County Genealogical Society Quarterly had the following information in some articles: A death notice for Samuel Willard Boon, date of death 7 Aug 1869 in Miami Co., KS It was published in the Miami Republican, 14 Aug 1869. Other names referenced were Mrs. and Mrs. Sam P. Boon. The Miami County Gen. Society Quarterly Reference number is MICOGESOQU Vol 10, No 3 p. 5. Also there is a reference in the same genealogical society quarterly article that he built the first house in Paola, KS (Miami Republican, 22 May, 1869) I also have a reference to a list of Cemeteries of Miami Co., KS that shows Samuel Boone (Boon?) and Samuel Boone JR. on p. 450, Vol 3, and a Boon, J.T. on p.423. And a Walter Boone moved to Weir City, Cherokee Co., KS, according to the 7 Feb 1880 issue of the Republican Citizen, and referenced in the Co. Gen. Soc. issue reference MICOGESOQU vol. 7, no 4, p 5 and in the same volume, a reference on page 63 to a Sam Boone printed in the Republican Citizen on 5 Sept 1878. I am quite interested in this, as I have been trying to find a trace of a Samuel Willard Boon who was born in MA to Francis Boon, and who seemed to vanish into thin air after that. (There was a Willard S. Boon who married in VT, where Francis Boon moved, and I always thought they were the same person, but now I wonder.) Does anyone know about this Samuel Willard Boon? 3. Hello Group, I'm still trying to get to first base with my BOON genealogy, and have yet to make any significant toe hold into the mountain i'm trying to climb. My great grandfather John Orpheus Boon, who I believe was born in Nebraska in 1880 , and disappeared in BigHaylakes Alberta in the mid- twenties, presumed dead, left no real record I have found as of yet to his beginnings, or his ending for that matter. . The census of 1880 of Nebraska does have a family there with a child of less than one year old listed by the name of John, with parents listed as John R. Boon, born in 1840 in PA, and Hanna, wife, born in 1842 in New Jersey. This lineage is the only line i've been able to connect as a possibility in the area from which our family located from . I would like to somehow converse with other genealogists that may have connections to these BOON family members from Nebraska at that time and see if this lineage is truely a possibility. Any suggestions? Barry H.

Any suggestions? Barry H.
