    1. [BOONE-L] Old Photograph Album including BOONE Family
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph album which once belonged in the MCADAMS Family. The album includes 26 photographs/funeral notices, including 4 which include identification. Those are as follows: Inscription in the front of the album - "Presented to me by school, May 26, 1899, Westphalia, Kansas, W.W. MCADAMS" #1 - Photograph of a young female taken at the J.W. Ard Studio in Mulhall, Oklahoma. On the back is written the name Scipio WADE. The photo was likely taken in the 1880's or 1890's and the subject appears to be about 20 years of age at the time. I believe this may be a photograph of Margaret MCADAMS of Kansas who married Scipio WADE of Kansas in 1890. Two other photographs in the album appear to be of this same woman, one with an infant and one with a toddler. #2 - Photograph of Frank H. CHILDS taken at the H.C. Chaufty Studio in Stroud, Oklahoma Territory. On the back of the photograph someone has written Melrose, New Mex 1/5-09. The photo was taken sometime before 1907 since Oklahoma became a state that year. The subject appears to be about 50 years of age at the time the photo was taken. #3 - Funeral Notice for Myrl BOONE who died 9 Nov 1898, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William BOONE, age 2 years and 5 months. #4 - Funeral Notice for Mrs. Cynthie R. BOWMAN wife of A.F. BOWMAN, age 56 years, 8 months, and 18 days, died 17 Sept. 1888 at Independence, Kansas. In addition to these items the album also contains: 3 Photographs of the same man at various times in his life, the first taken at the Hahn Studio in Fort Scott, Kansas. I believe these may be photographs of W.W. MCADAMS who originally owned the album, and there is an obvious resemblance to the woman who I believe to be Margaret MCADAMS so I'm wondering if they are siblings. The other photographs all unidentified come from: Garnett, Kansas Leonadville, Kansas Minneapolis, Kansas Richmond, Kansas Girard, Illinois Tacoma, Washington A group of the photographs are small tin types including some of the same people in more than one photograph. A couple of the photographs are on Postcard stock however they contain no clue as to location. I'm hoping that someone from these families can be located so that the album can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of one of these families or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Wondering if anyone can explain how in December 18, 1857 in Hunt County TX Abstract 43 shows a Grantee Needham Boon Cert. 568 and Patentee Needham Boon. What does that mean. He was a veteren of the War for Texas Independence, but he was dead by 1849. Could a widow be acting on his behalf? I hope someone knows how these abstracts work . Thanks, Margretta Clark Aviles

    2. Larry, I am happy to see you have honored your ancestors by naming them on this site. Richard Pennington, second husband of HANNAH BOONE, whom he married in 1777 at the "forks of the Yadkin" in North Carolina, also served his country at Enoch Osborn's Fort in Montgomery Co., VA, where others of his family served. Through him, I have proven direct lineage for my membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Larry, I hope that you are a contributive member of the Sons of the American Revolution. 1. [BOONE-L] Roll Call
    2. Happy 4th of July to all. If any family can be proud of their heritage it is the families of the many BOONE lines. The July 2001 issued of "Compass" published by Rochell COCHRAN a direct of desc of Edward BOONE has a complete rundown on our grandfather Edward BOONE and his wife Martha BRYAN. I will not even attempt to copy her work or add to it. I did visit the grave site of grandfather Edward last July and it was a profound moment standing there at the site where he was slain and buried. Thanks to Dell BOONE ARIOLA, her husband Ken and grandson Bryan for finding the grave. Charity BOONE>Edward>Squire>George is my direct line. She married Francis ELLEDGE and I descend from this line. 1. [BOONE-L] Roll Call - Rev War
    2. Hi All, And happy Independence Day! I would like to remember my direct line ancestors who served in the War of Revolution. John Henry DeFrance, whose 2nd wife (as far as we know) was Elisabeth Boon, sister of Capt. Hawkins Boone. He served with the First New York Regiment of the Continental Line as a Private from 1779 until the end of the War in 1783. He was my 4th great grandfather. John DeFrance, first child of John Henry (as far as we know) and first wife Anna "Polly" Allison served in the Sixth Company, Seventh Battalion of the Lancaster County, PA Militia in 1782. He also served in the the same unit in 1783 after the Militia was reorganized and the unit became the First Company of the Fourth Battalion. James DeFrance, second child of John Henry and Anna, served several tours of duty with the Third, Fourth and Seventh Battalions of the Lancaster County Militia between 1779 (when he was barely 17 years old) and 1782. He was a Private, Sergeant and Captain in the Militia and also served in the War of 1812. I'm obviously very proud of their service and sacrifices for our freedom. - as I am of all those who served and sacrificed. It makes the 4th a lot more special holiday. 2. Dell Ariola
    3. BOONE-DNA TESTING PARTICIPANTS WANTED Want to know which line of Boon/Boone/Bohun and all variant spellings you descend from? A new website has been setup to inform Boon/Boone/Bohun and all variant spellings, of a Y-chromosome DNA testing project that will be conducted between July 1, 2001 and August 1, 2001. The purpose of this project is to establish and separate the many different lines of that surname in the United States, Canada, England, Germany, Holland and elsewhere, and we need participants from other countries as well. The use of DNA is the newest and most accurate tool available for genealogy. Only males have the Y-chromosome and we need participants with the SURNAME of Boon/ Boone/Bohun and the variant spellings. The DNA samples will be obtained by swabbing the inside of the cheek and will NOT be used for any purpose other than to test the Y-chromosome for this project. For more information on this important project, please visit our website at: http://members.tripod.com/dellariola or e-mail the Project Coordinators: Rochelle Cochran @ [email protected] Dell (Boone) Ariola @ [email protected]

    3. Aloha! Due to the location being in North Carolina, does anyone know if this would be a descendant of Israel and Martha Boone? I have info that shows some of their descendants were also in Rowan Co. Mahalo! S. 3. Below are my notes on the family of John Boone, Sheriff of Burke Co., NC. He was not married to Elizabeth Setzer, just had a child by her. Sandra (researching Boone, Yancey County, NC) John was born Sept. 19, 1789 in Burke County, died Nov. 22, 1837. He married Isabella Kincaid, daughter of Revolutionary War Soldier, Robert Kincaid and his wife Margaret Dunn. John and Isabella are buried in the Kincaid Cemetery near Lenoir, NC .Burke County Bastardy Bonds, Nov. 1816. Elizabeth Setzer has an illegitimate child by John Boone. This child was Mary Matilda Setzer, born Jan 23, 1817. She married Madison Estes and had 6 children. She died Nov. 28, 1906.Burke County. Marriage Bond: John Boon married Ebby Kincaide on Aug. 27, 1818. John Boone was elected High Sheriff of the large expanse of territory known as Burke County, for two terms, 1832-33 and again in 1836-37. State law would not permit a sheriff to succeed himself in office at that time, so one term had to elapse before he could be re-elected. He was a respected and well-loved man, with a kindly and compassionate nature, but being a public servant he was required to carry out the orders of the Court, which, on one occasion, included the hanging of Frankie Silvers. His wife's nephew, in his notes on Kincaid Family History tells of this incident, saying that John was so grief-stricken that tears flowed freely down both his cheeks. From That day on, his health declined , he never recovered from the grief and shock. He died while in office, during his second term as Sheriff. Burke County Tax Record, 1830, Cap. Hood's Company. John Boon, 565 acres valued at $800.00. 1 white poll and 1 black poll. 1840 census, Burke County, Isabella Boon is head of household. She is age 30-40. There is 1 boy 5-10, 2 boys 10-15, 1 boy 15-20. 1 girl 5-10, 1 girl 15-20. She has 4 male slaves and 3 female slaves. Burke County Minute Docket, Spring 1847. J. H. Quiet, adm of John H. Stevelie, dec. vs. Heirs at law of John Boon Dec. It appearing to the satisfaction of the court that at Spring Term 1847, the Plaintiff recovered judgment of condemnation against the Lands descended to the following heirs at law of John Boon, dec, to wit, Joel Boon, Nelson Boon, William Boon, Elijah Boon and Nancy Boon
