    3. Christian, Have you checked with Fort Detroit to see what they have in their archives? It's a museum now. You might also check with the Detroit Public Library. They have a wonderful reference and collection of data including the Burton Collection. The Burton collection is a wealth of genealogy material that came from the private collection of Phillip Burton. Phillip had a very successful abstract company. Good hunting to all. Patti

    1. [BOONE-L] Blue Licks - Boone - Detroit Query
    2. Christian Vandermaas
    3. Hi, This is my first time posting something, but I would like to ask a favour. I am interested in the period when Daniel Boone was captured with his men at the Blue Licks and brought to Detroit in 1779. My reason is that I have held the Archaeological Licence for a 22 gun Royal British Warship HMS ONTARIO, which sank in Lake Ontario the evening of October 31st, 1780, since 1983. I have been doing for a later date to be published Ph.D. Thesis in History biography/genealogy of Captain James Andrews who with everyone else was lost when the ship sank. The ship has yet been found though claimed to be. I know that a few of these individuals had been prisoners on board the vessel when it was operating that year of 1780 to be brought to Montreal. The family of Captain James Andrews lived at Fort Detroit from 1769/70 up to the mid 1780's I have verifiable archival records. Colin Andrews his brother was a merchant at Fort Detroit. Would anyone on the Boone site here have any knowledge or papers I may not know regarding personal records/papers of the time at Fort Detroit of Daniel Boone beyond the standard books available at the libraries? I would be keen on any family tales or folklore I might be able to add to my papers. One other request if this is not out of place as I realize it is not historically accurate, but it gives a sense of flavour of the time is that I am also trying to obtain a copy of the Fess Parker - Daniel Boone series where he was captured and brought to Fort Detroit and meets the Fort Commander Lt.Col. Henry Hamilton the "Scalp Buyer". Henry Hamilton was the direct line commander of Captain James Andrews and mentioned in his writings. I would dearly appreciate a copy of this particular program or any related to Fort Detroit. If there are also any family folklore tales of Henry Hamilton that I may include would be welcome very much. 2. Kathryn Weiss
    3. I have no direct evidence of any relationship between the two families, however, Daniel B. Bryan, nephew of Daniel Boone, stated to L.C. Draper that Gen. Daniel Morgan was his mother's cousin. Nathan Boone, son of Daniel, also stated the same to L.C. Draper. These statements, and the fact that Daniel Morgan was apparently very close-mouthed about his antecedents, should be considered when trying to unravel the mystery. Personally, I tend to think (although I have no documentation), that these folks knew who they were related to. Kathryn

Two parts are out now. In part one (vol 15, p 104-, at pp 113-114), he reviews the evidence on the parentage of General Morgan and concludes that there is no clear evidence of a connection to Daniel Morgan or Edward Morgan. 3. I recently found the following information while researching Boones / Boons of Mississippi. I hope you will find it interesting and maybe helpful. >From The Woodville Republican (newspaper), Wilkinson County, MS, December 6, 1853: "At a meeting of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, held at Philadelphia on the 6th, Mr. Thomas Biddle Jr., the secretary, read a letter in relation to the Boone family. He stated that a number of early records of that family recently came into his hands, one of which gives an account of the Boone family. It states that they left a town eight miles from Exeter, England, in 1717. It names Squire Boone as son of the immigrant and father of Daniel. All the papers were placed in the hands of Lyman C. Craper, some years ago, who is preparing among other lives of western pioneers, one of the great backwoodsman, Daniel Boone. The letter of Mr. Biddle further states that it is an entire mistake that the family originally belonged to the Society of Friends; that the papers prove that they were Episcopalians; that he learned verbally from his half-sister, Miss Boone, who died in 1846, aged 75, that George Boone, on his arrival in 1717, purchased and settled in what was then Berks County, and laid out a town, naming it 'Exeter.' He also purchased land in different places, some as far south as North Carolina and that he purchased and laid out Georgetown, D. C. Mr. Biddle, looking over the papers one day, remarked that 'these Boones all appeared to be Episcopalians,' 'Oh, yes,' replied Miss Boone, 'they were all high church people,' adding that most of them became Quakers out of compliment to Penn and his successors."

    3. HI, I am looking for information on this family: Daniel Boone (b. abt 1815 in VA) m. Sarah Ann Jones (b. 1823, KY; d. 1876, MO) on July 18, 1839 in Marion County, MO. Children: Daniel W. Boone, b. abt 1851; Cassie J. Boone, b. abt 1852; Louis J. Boone, b. abt 1853; Virginia Clementine Boone. b. abt 1856; Nannie A. Boone, b. abt 1858; Lucy Boone, b. abt 1861; and Henry T. Boone, b. abt 1863. Birthdates (except for Sarah) are approximate because they are taken from the 1880 Marion County, MO census. The census also tells us that all the children were born in Missouri, and the parents of their father (Daniel) were both born in Pennsylvania. Both Daniels were farmers and Cassie was the keeper of the house, as her mother died about 4 years earlier in 1876. All the children would have been older than the normal at that time when they married. My Virginia was around 32 years old; she is my ggg grandmother; she married James Thomas Aslin in Stoddard County on Feb 12, 1888. I am looking for any information on this family. Thanks in advance!!! :) valerie Valerie Holifield [email protected] --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Send your FREE holiday greetings online at Yahoo! Greetings.

    3. Hello List, Is there anyone out there who has researched the Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. family? In particular, I am trying to gather proof on one of his presumed children. I am looking for help to support or refute the claimed relationship of Sarah (Boone) Adams Lamberson to Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. (as his daughter). Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. b. 13 Aug. 1741 - Son of Benjamin Boone (I) and Susanna Lykins Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. married Eve Lofter Family resided in Berks or Northumberland County, PA. Sarah married (1) Conrad Adams (2) Conrad Lamberson Was Sarah (Boone) Adams Lamberson (2 JUN 1772) the daughter of Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. and Eve Lofter? Does anyone have strong evidence in support of this? There are several theories that have circulated about Sarah and her relationship to Benjamin Boone (II). I am looking for as much documentation as I can find to support my family history research. I have never seen Benjamin Boone (II) Jr.'s will or probate papers. It is my understanding that "Sarah Lamberson" is named as an heir with Benjamin's other known children in at least one of those papers. Is there anything else in the way of documentation that links Sarah to Benjamin Boone (II), Jr. and Eve Lofter's family? I understand that no record of Sarah's Birth or marriage to Conrad Adams has been found. I have noticed that the Boone Society Website does not list Sarah (Boone) Adams Lamberson as a child of Benjamin Boone and Eve Lofter. Does anyone know the Boone Society's official position on Sarah's status as a child of Benjamin Boone, Jr.? Any information shared or comments on the above would certainly be appreciated. Thank you.
