Hello list, We are looking for one of our brick walls Sarah Bonner. She was born in Virgina 1813, and came to Ohio with her parents. Upon settling in Ohio her parents died, and she was left an orphan. She was one of seven children. She married James Slater in Ohio 1836, and had 2 chilren there, 1. Orange John Slater - 1837 2. Reason Slater - 1839 The family then moved to Garden Grove, Iowa, where 4 more children were born, 3. Adeline Slater - 1841 (a twin sister Aneline died at birth) 4. Sarah Ellen Slater - 1846 5. Oliver Burgess Slater - 1847 The family left Iowa in 1862, bound for Oregion, James Slater died in the wilds of Idaho. The family continued onward for Oregon, and made it to Auburn, Oregon a gold camp. The family wintered here and in the spring went to the Boise, Idaho basin. Sarah later went to live with her daughter Adeline, in Bishop, Ca. She may have made a trip to Ohio to see family in Ashtabula. Her daughter Sarah Ellen kept a daily journal of the trip across the plains. James Slater is a lso a brick wall. Thanks for any info.
