Hello List, We are looking for one of our brick walls Sarah Bonner. She was born in Virginia 1813, and came to Ohio with her parents. Upon settling in Ohio her parents passed away, and she was left an orphan. She was one of seven children. She married James Slater in Ohio 1836, and had two children, 1. Orange John Slater - 1837 2. Reason Slater - 1839 The family then moved to Garden Grove, Iowa, where four more children Were born, 3. Adeline Slater - 1841 (A twin died at birth) 4. Sarah Ellen Slater - 1846 5. Oliver Burgess Slater - 1847 The family left Iowa in 1862, bound for Oregon, James Slater died in the wilds of Idaho. The family continued onward for Oregon, and made it to Auburn, Oregon, a gold camp. The family wintered here, and in the spring went to the Boise Basin. Sarah later went to live with her daughter Adeline, in Bishop, Ca. She may have at one time traveled back to Ashtabula, Ohio to visit someone, maybe a family member. She passed away in 1901. Her daughter Sarah kept a daily journal of their trip across the plains. James Slater is also a brick wall. Thanks for any info.
