    1. Re: [BONNER] Re: BONNER-D Digest V01 #3
    2. Hi Neil--My g-grandfather had four children: all born in Phila. They were (not necessarily in order) John, Cornelius (went by Neil), Michael and Mary. John was my grandfather and he died in Philadelphia in June, 1950. At the time, he and my grandmother and father lived at 524 Delancey Street (in what is now Society Hill). My dad, also John, was a retired Phila Firefighter at the time of his death in 1984. He was an only child. Mary died a widow and childless in 1977. I know very little about the other two siblings. Neil had one son who died a bachelor. I couldn't tell you what happened to Neil or Mike. Fortunately, this Bonner branch is going strong--my dad didn't get to know his three grandchildren (#4 is due next Saturday!). My g-grandfather married Mary McGinty in Immaculate Conception Church in Phila in 1887. Since his DOB on his death record was noted to be 1865, he would have came to the US sometime earlier. His wife was also from Ireland. Her parents were Neil McGinty and Susan Friel. I don't know the names of John's parents. Based on the custom of naming children after parent, then grandparents--I'm guessing his father would have been John, Cornelius or Michael. That pattern has held fast in other branches I've researched from that era. If I locate more infor, I'll let you know. If anything I've given you strikes a chord, let me know--Marianne Bonner
