Hi Gregg, Thanks for keeping the DNA webpage going for us Bonner's. As you know I've been actively researching the Irish-clan of Bonner's for some time now. With some of the new STR results--most especially, Node K Bonner's I think it is safe to say that DYS 426 has a signature modal value of "13" for the Bonner's from Ireland. In general, a value of 13 at DYS 426 is quite rare in the general population yet Bonner's that claim direct descent from Ireland seem to all have this "signature". I too would be very interested in finding some CRAMPSEY men to test. Conceptually they should have very similar markers to the Irish Bonners. I plan to get the SNP tests done thru FTDNA. There is a marker called M222 that identifies the haplogroup R1b1c7 which is also called the Northwest Irish Variety. Some also think (or claim) this is the signature SNP that identifies the High King of Ireland, Ui Neill. The ancestral type is likely somewhere along the line between "A" and "D", and which includes "K", and possibly others. It appears that we now know the DNA profile (or a close facsimile) of the BONNER group that was original BONER, and which shares descent from common patriarch with those of the CRAMPSEY name (those familiar with Irish BONNER genealogy will understand what this means). It remains to be seen if any CRAMPSEY folks will match DNA with our BONNER/BONER folks, as I am not aware of any CRAMPSEY having ever been tested in this fashion. I think I will try to do a little recruiting in this regard. I think it would be neat to use the DNA to prove unambiguously that (at least some) BONNER/BONER folks share descent with CRAMPSEY folks.
