Hi Folks, I have revised the BONNER Surname DNA Project webpage to reflect the newest result. You can find the page here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gbonner/bonnerdna/ The primary thing of note for this revision is that the results table has been expanded from 12 markers to 25 markers. Four of the 19 results include 25 markers. The primary scientific result is that we have a new DNA 'type' which is 'Type "K"'. This type closely resembles 'Type "A"'. This is not surprising when you consider that the participants of both types claim Irish BONNER descent. So it would appear that we now have a kind of 'litmus test' for Irish BONNER descent (at least for some clans of Irish BONNERs) that is independently verified. If you will go to the Project webpage and look at the new Network Diagram, then you will see a 'clump' of folks around a red dot called "mv1". [The following is completely speculative editorializing by yours truly, and should not be misconstrued as scholarship] ...It seems to me that people who suspect an Ireland-to-Pennsylvania (particularly Philadelphia) immigration for their BONNER patriarch, or those in early Ohio should descend from BONNER folks whose DNA profile was very similar to that represented by "mv1", which is to say, specifically, Types A, K, F, D, G, and a very outside chance for C. The ancestral type is likely somewhere along the line between "A" and "D", and which includes "K", and possibly others. It appears that we now know the DNA profile (or a close facsimile) of the BONNER group that was original BONER, and which shares descent from common patriarch with those of the CRAMPSEY name (those familiar with Irish BONNER genealogy will understand what this means). It remains to be seen if any CRAMPSEY folks will match DNA with our BONNER/BONER folks, as I am not aware of any CRAMPSEY having ever been tested in this fashion. I think I will try to do a little recruiting in this regard. I think it would be neat to use the DNA to prove unambiguously that (at least some) BONNER/BONER folks share descent with CRAMPSEY folks. I am happy to try to answer any question anyone might have about any of this.
