    1. RE: [BONNER] BONER - Georgia
    2. Bonner, Gregg
    3. Hi Su, and other interested readers, Su, firstly, do you really mean to say BONER with one "n"? I am not sure I have ever seen that surname. That is not to say there were not any - it is just that I have never seen it. I suppose that the proper surname BONNER was spelt BONER on many occasions. Furthermore, given uncertainties and the like, and difficulties in transcription, with typographical errors to boot, the name I have found as Bonner, Boner, Bahner, and even Barner and Beemer, among others. So I can say nothing about BONERs in Georgia, but I can tell you about some BONNERs in Georgia, since one group of them is "mine". My BONNER immigrant to Georgia was William BONNER, sometimes aka "Billy". He was the founder of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Standing Rock, which is near the Georgia/Alabama line. He is listed in the Troup County, Georgia 1850 census. You can find close relatives of that family (on varying dates) in at least Troup, Hancock, Jones, and Monroe Counties, Georgia, among probably others. If you are interested in that family, I am happy to write more about them, but for the moment, it is probably easier for you to just look them up on RootsWeb WorldConnect. Su, do you have any particular counties in Georgia in which you are interested? Also, do you have a timeframe in mind? The more information you can include in your query, the better able our readers will be able to assist you. Cheers, Gregg Bonner BONNER-L ListAdmin > -----Original Message----- > From: Su Baccino [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: 26 January, 2003 11:21 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [BONNER] BONER - Georgia > > > I would like to hear about BONERs in the US but Georgia in particular. > Su > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online > genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
