Dear List, I have intention of starting a BONNER Y-Chromosome Genealogy Project. I see a bunch of what seem to be different lines, but with the feeling that they are all closely related. In particular, I would like to test descendants along the all-male line of at least the following: 1. William Bonner, b. ABT. 1730, said to have married Honore (maiden name unknown) and had children (Robert Hicks, Jesse, Hubbard, James, and Joseph (a Revolutionary War Veteran)); 2. Thomas Bonner, who m. Mary Heath and also m. Jane Green; 3. Col. Henry Bonner, who m. Nancy Ann Cate; 4. John Bonner, who m. Sarah Hicks. One sample per line should be sufficient unless it turns out that their DNA is not matching closely. Of course I would like the project to extend beyond these, and be as wide a net as can be cast. I have done this before on another of my lines, and it turned out to be quite useful, IMHO. If you have any questions about it, just e-mail me :) Cheers, Gregg
Is this line set out below connected to any of the four in the DNA message (William Bonner, b. ABT. 1730; Thomas Bonner, who m. Mary Heath and also m. Jane Green; Col. Henry Bonner, who m. Nancy Ann Cate; and John Bonner, who m. Sarah Hicks)? This Thomas Bonner had three wives, the first unnamed as yet and two later wives named "Elizabeth". Does anyone else have ties to these Bonners? 1. Thomas Bonner. Thomas Bonner was born possibly about 1738. He married Unknown (--?--) possibly about 1760. Thomas Bonner married Elizabeth (--?--) in or about 1770 in Virginia. This is the person mentioned in the deed filed in Amelia County in 1779. He married Elizabeth (--?--) probably about 1783. This wife named Elizabeth is the wife mentioned in Thomas Bonner's will. Thomas Bonner died at some time between the date of his will, 16 March 1791, and the date of its recording, 25 June 1792, in Halifax County, Virginia. Children of Thomas1 Bonner and Unknown (--?--), first wife, were as follows: i. Thomas; born around 1762 in Virginia. ii. Amey; Amey Bonner was born in Virginia around 1764. This may have been a second marriage for Chesley Grant. The Halifax County Marriage Bond Register #1 contains a record for the marriage of Chesley Grant to Tillithey Kidd on the fifth of December 1787. Bondsman was James Grant, and witnesses were James Kidd, Anthony Gresham. Tillithey Kidd signed her own consent.[2] iii. Nancy Ann; Nancy Ann Bonner was born in 1766; m. Clark, who married Peggy Henderson (daughter ofEdward Henderson); John Clark; Sterling Clark; Jincey Clark; Elizabeth Clark, who married Edward Henderson (son of Edward Henderson); Roland Clark; Daniel Clark; and Peter Clark Jr. Nancy Ann Bonner died either 1826 or 1827 in Halifax County, Virginia. This was the first appearance of "Nancy Clark's Est." in the land book. The estate reported a tract of 89 acres on "Lawsons Ck. Palmer &", eleven miles south of the courthouse, and a 85 acre tract on "Jeremy's fork, Palmer &" and a third tract of 50 acres adjoining the tract on Lawsons Creek. iv. Children of Thomas1 Bonner and Elizabeth (--?--), second wife, were as follows: i. Lucy; Lucy Bonner was born between 1770 and 1771; Lucy was not bound out in 1792, so she was probably born about 1770. ii. Littleberry; Littleberry Bonner was born between 1771 and 1773 in Virginia. The bondsman was "Alexander his X mark Douglass" and Witnesses were "John his X mark Willison" and Alexander Douglass. Darkey Bomar signed for herself.
