Dear List Readers, I keep meaning to share my good news - and the variety of spellings for Bonner! On the 1841 British census for Battle Union, Sussex County, I found the family BONNER living at Brams Hill Farm.? Listed are Stephen, 45, farmer; Ann, 40; Lester, 20; Charles, 18; Mary,65; John, 25; and Aaron Morris, 13.? All were born in Sussex County. The US 1860 census lists Lester BONER, age 40, b. Eng; wife Ann, age 46 b. Eng; Sons Stephen age 14, Frank age 14, both born in Eng, and Frederick, age 6, b. Ohio. In the 1870 US census Lester, Ann and Fred BOUNER are located in Sumner, Webster Co., Iowa. In 1880 I can only find Fred BONNER in Quincy, Adams Co., IL.? In 1900, Fred is listed with wife Ida, son Elmer John and the last name is spelled incorrectly as BOWNER.? As I know my grandfather's name is Elmer John and his mother was Ida, I am sure this is the correct family. Judy (Bonner) Martin [email protected]
