    1. [BONNER] Hello
    2. Alice Peterie
    3. I am new to this list. I am looking for my great great greatgrandparents, William Johnson and ? Bonner. These names were taken off the death certificate of their son Hugh Johnson of Ford County, Illinois. I also found William, his son Hugh and a Jane (don't know the connection) in the 1850 Marion County Virginia census. If the age is accurate, William would have been born approximately 1786. His son Hugh was born in Virginia in 1827. Brickmaker was Hugh's trade all his life. Another interesting note is that Hugh married into the family of McCormick Miller also of Virginia whose wife was Paulina Bonner. Would appreciate any help locating William's wife and I would be willing to share information on Hugh's family. Alice Peterie

    3. Re: Illinois Bonner family According to my information, Henry Bonner II died on 15 October 1850 in Illinois, either Madison or Macoupin County. Henry and Mary (Vaughn) moved from Georgia between 1807 and 1811. Mary was opposed to slavery and that is why they moved to Illinois. They moved there before 1811 and their son William M. Bonner was born there. Henry and Mary's oldest son was Alexander Vaughn Bonner, named for her father. Their next child was Jane, named for her mother. The Henry who married Mary Vaughn was the son of Henry Bonner (1724, VA-1822, Warren Co., GA) and Ann Cate. The 1937 book -- Hutchings, Bonner, Wyatt-An Intimate Family History -- by Richard Henry Hutchings. It has an interesting discussion of this family. According to that book, the children of Henry and Ann/Nancy Cate Bonner were Richard, Lucretia, Jones, Jamima, Wyatt, Henry, Jr., John, Mary, Luraney, Nancy, Robert and James.
