I am trying to find JONES BONNER In a message dated 5/12/2010 3:16:23 A.M. Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Hi Folks, My apologies for not having already updated the BONNER Surname DNA Project webpages, but I've been busy playing dodgetornado. But I thought I'd pass this along before I forget: A new sample has come in from a man claiming descent from Whitmel Bonner, son of Thomas of subject. We already had a sample from a man claiming descent from Whitmel's brother, Jordan. Thankfully they match. So this rather cements the DNA type of Thomas Bonner (1744-1804) as BONNER DNA type Node "C". This is the group most likely descended from the ancient Bonner family of Henry Bonner of Chowan, NC. There are now 7 Bonner men who have tested and who are Node "C", plus one MARTIN who appears to be "a genetic Bonner" of this DNA type. Unfortunately, few of these Node "C" folks can trace their line back explicitly to Henry of Chowan himself, but whose implied descent probability I would say is very high. This new sample proves the type back to 1744, which gets us closer to Henry himself in the explicit sense. Otherwise the compiled descent interpretation depends on what you believe is true about the nature of the various Bonner descents along these lines prior to the 1680s (e.g. must Henry, b. 1680, m. WHEDBEE and William, b. 1683, m. LILES be brothers? Etc.). I hope to have the webpages updated soon.
