    2. John & Polli Bates
    3. Hello! Has anyone found a John P.(Paul?) Bonner, who married Margaret LITTLE? I know that (1.) John's family was German, though I've seen some Irish Bonners mentioned, (2.) he was a missionary to the Indians in southern Indiana and Ohio in the 1800's, (3.) their daughter, Anna BONNER, was b.ABT. 1849 Hanover, IN, and m.ABT. 1885 Adams Co.,OH my gr-grandfather, Isaac Newton `Newt' Cook b. Dec. 8, 1846 Jefferson Twp., Adams Co.,OH d. 11-13-1898, and they had 4 children, 3 of whom lived to be adults. Also, when Newt's mother, Lucinda BROMLEY Cook, d. Mar. 12, 1900, John P. Bonner had the service, and this was in southern Ohio. Thank you, Polli Bates

    1. [BONNER] George and Elizabeth Bonner
    2. My Bonners are George (b.Abt.1805 in PA.) married Elizabeth White (b.Abt. 1815 in Port Gibson, Ms) in Thibodaux, La. on Jan. 7, 1830. George's parents were John Bonner and Bridget Crossman both deceased at the time of his marriage. Elizabeth's parents were John White and Vashti Church. John and Vashti White were married in Clermont County, Ohio on Nov. 28, 1805. Vashti died in Thibodaux, LA. on June 9, 1833. Elizabeth and George are said to have had 16 children. I have a fair amount of info on 12 of the children. I have not been able to get back any further. I have quite a few "cousins" who are also "stuck" at the same place. Would appreciate any information on any part of this family. Thanks, Richalyn in Baton Rouge,LA. [email protected]

    1. Re: [BONNER] List Administration
    2. Have documented most of the family members except for three-R Chandler Bonner s/o David Turner Bonner Sr. Apparently he was an older son by first wife. They lived in AK and then moved to TX. That's all I know. Next, David Turner Bonner, JR. Of him I know absolutely nothing. Herman Bonner the youngest son was in TX for a long time and had a lot of emotional sickness and was placed in a sanitarium in Terrell or Sherman TX. I know nothing of birth or death dates but would like to find out something else. DTB Sr was son of George Washington Bonner and 2nd wife Mary Newsom. Would appreciate any further help. Thanks---

    1. Re: [BONNER] Bonners in Philadelphia
    2. Hi Joe--Figuring out the Bonners' has been more challenging than I realized!! I basically have bits and pieces that I'm trying to put together. Here's what I've got so far: G-Grandfather, John Bonner (Boner on one early document) was born in Ireland ca. 1865. I believe he came from Co Donegal (even now that's where most Bonners' are located). Anyway, he married Mary McGinty, another Irish emigrant, in Immaculat e Conception Ch. in Phila. in 1887. Mary's parents were Neil McGinty and Susan Friel. They had four children: not sure of birth order--John (my g-father), Cornelius (AKA Neil), Michael and Mary. John had one child, my father, John, who was a retired Phila Firefighter, when he died in 1984. Mary and Michael had no children. Neil had one son who never married. We're keeping the line alive...my dad, sadly, did not get to know his three grandchildren (with #4 due next Saturday!). One possible--but totally unscientific clue--I just returned from a vacation in Ireland. Among my souvenirs, a current Donegal phone book (can't hurt). Most of the current Bonners are located in a western area of Donegal known as "The Rosses." There are not that many of them. In order of occurence: Burtonport, Dungloe and Doochary. You can draw a short line from Burtonport to Doochary with Dungloe between. The towns are quite close together. Plan to check this out further. Any more info I can help you with, let me know. Best of luck!! Marianne Bonner

    2. Hi Neil--My g-grandfather had four children: all born in Phila. They were (not necessarily in order) John, Cornelius (went by Neil), Michael and Mary. John was my grandfather and he died in Philadelphia in June, 1950. At the time, he and my grandmother and father lived at 524 Delancey Street (in what is now Society Hill). My dad, also John, was a retired Phila Firefighter at the time of his death in 1984. He was an only child. Mary died a widow and childless in 1977. I know very little about the other two siblings. Neil had one son who died a bachelor. I couldn't tell you what happened to Neil or Mike. Fortunately, this Bonner branch is going strong--my dad didn't get to know his three grandchildren (#4 is due next Saturday!). My g-grandfather married Mary McGinty in Immaculate Conception Church in Phila in 1887. Since his DOB on his death record was noted to be 1865, he would have came to the US sometime earlier. His wife was also from Ireland. Her parents were Neil McGinty and Susan Friel. I don't know the names of John's parents. Based on the custom of naming children after parent, then grandparents--I'm guessing his father would have been John, Cornelius or Michael. That pattern has held fast in other branches I've researched from that era. If I locate more infor, I'll let you know. If anything I've given you strikes a chord, let me know--Marianne Bonner

    2. Does anyone know the parents of William Henry Bonner who married Nancy Martin in Hempstead County, Arkansas in 1824. Nancy Martin was from Dayton, Tennessee (I think) and I have been told that her mother's name was Susannah. They entered Texas in 1831 but he was killed. She with a one year old son William Henry Bonner II went to the fort at Nacogdoches until the end of Texas' battle with Mexico. William Henry Bonner II married Melinda Blackburn (do not know where she came from) and their son William Henry Bonner III married Florence Mantooth (Mantooth family from Cocke County, Tennessee). They settled in Homer, Texas originally and then Lufkin, Texas. William Henry Bonner III was my ggrandfather. I have found Nancy Martin's burial site in Redland, Texas (she later married a man by the name of Lange). I have not been able to find anything about William Henry Bonner I. This information has mostly come from the book Texas, The Country and Its Men. Thank you for any help that you can give. Sincerely, Bonner DeShazo

The McClendon mentioned was her stepfather. There has been much mention of this Henry Bonner in the records of the above named counties. Ellen
