I am searching for the parents of Mary BONNER. She was born 31 Aug 1778 in Maryland. Unfortunately, that is all I know about her family. She married John Byrkit in 1801, whereupon they moved to Miami County, Ohio. Thank you, Mike Bates
The below message which I forwarded to the list was from someone who does not subscribe to the Bonner list. A reply should be sent directly to Chris. My uncle's name, born around 1908, was also Bernard Bonner. His parents were Owen and Ellen Bonner from New Jersey. We are just starting research. We keep hearing that we are from Donegal. I wonder if there is a link between the Bernard Bonners? Good Luck. Kathleen McGrath Kraus
Am not aware of these family members in Ohio. Names are common also to our family, however.

With kind permission of Harold Davey, <[email protected]>, here is a copy of his message re Sarah Peyton: >>According to "The Peytons of Virginia", Sarah Peyton m. abt 1742 (1)Capt. Henry Snoad, who the book stated d. 1752, Beaufort Co, NC. However, subsequent to the 1976 publication of the book, other information has been submitted indicating that Cap. Snoad may have d. before 1752 (there is mention of a probate in Beaufort of Snoad, but the dates are unclear) and Sarah m. (2) Col. Thomas Bonner (bef 1720-1787), presumably before the birth of their son, Benjamin Bonner. Sarah's father was Benjamin Peyton which would account for her naming one of her three children by Snoad, Benjamin Snoad, as well as her son by Thomas Bonner, Benjamin Bonner. Benjamin Peyton was b. abt 1705, possibly in NC, & d. in Beaufort, 1748. He was the son of Robert Peyton, b. abt 1689, Gloucester, VA. He was the son of Maj. Robert Peyton of GloucesterCo, VA who was b. 1641 in Rougham, Co. Norfolk, England. Descendants of Sarah Peyton Bonner would be eligible for membership in the Peyton Society of Virginia.<< Please note a reply from Robert and Hazel Bonner, "We do not believe that Thomas and Sarah Peyton Bonner are the parents of our Benjamin Bonner of Amelia County, VA and Granville District, NC. To Mike and others who may be interested in these families: I have several marriages (and then some!) in these two counties to post tomorrow. I hope the information will be helpful to some of you. As far as I know, I do not have a connection to the Texas families, which is to say that the information in these posts is all that I have at the present time. But I will continue to look! Recently posted passports to the list prompted a question about the nature and need for these passports issued by the state of Georgia. Here is a brief summary of the explanation from the preface to the book by Dorothy Williams Potter, _Passports of Southeastern Pioneers, 1770-1823_. Indian affairs were under Federal jurisdiction through the appointment of Indian agents. Governors and other officials experienced no little irritation with the authority exercised by the national government. Various officers representing states, the Spanish government, traders, and sometimes prominent citizens began to issue passports on their own authority. Passports were one means of exercising control over the persons allowed to enter the lands of the Creek country. Many passports were issued in Georgia to those who wanted to go to the Mississippi River area "to view the country" intending to settle or trade there. By 1824 the Spanish had left the continent and the Indians had moved westward, and the need for passports had ceased. Marilyn Symonds
