He was married to Amelia Mattox. They moved from Batavia, Ohio to Pike County, Illinois after their daughter Ann Eliza died of cholera. I also have a book their youngest child, Margaret Alice, wrote about her family, with chapters on each of her siblings. Her daughter compiled an extensive genealogy of Bonnell descendants.
