I have been transcribing her work using Family Tree Maker. In the folder for John Bonnell, married to Honora White, there are a number of photocopied documents. One is from "Family Album" by James Reddick. He lists the fourth child of John and Honora as "Daniel, born August 8, 1731. He settled and died in St. Mathew's Parish, Georgia, (later Effingham County)where during the revolution he was a Major and after the war was a House Representative and Justice of the Peace." >From the Parish Register of Parish Prince Frederick Winyaw (South Carolina) "Bonnell, Daniel, the Son of John Bonnell and of Honora his Wife was Born August ye 8th and Baptized ye 11th of April ensuing 1731." And from "The Colonial Records of the State of Georgia, Vol. XXII, August 1771 "Read a Petition of Daniel White Bonnell setting forth that he had been some time in the province with his family Consisting of a Wife and Six Children but never had any Land Therefore praying for three hundred Acres of Land in St. Matthew's Parish near Land ordered to Benjamin Leneire." He got it, for I also have a photocopy of the land grant to Daniel White Bonnell for 300 acres in St. Matthew's Parish in March of 1772. I also have a listing of the Georgia Militia, showing Daniel Bonnell commissioned as a lieutenant on April 12, 1773. A copy of a page from the "Gazette of the State of Georgia" dated Thursday, October 21, 1784, says this: "Last Saturday, Daniel Bonnel, for robbery, was sentenced to be hanged on Monday next the 18th instant." So I know that Daniel White Bonnell lived on well past infancy. It's entirely possible that the Daniel Bonnell sentenced to be hanged was not the same Daniel. I have no record of who Danile White married or the names of any of the children. Maybe the Daniel who was hanged was a son of his? I was hoping someone had some more information! And then there's Susannah Mary, born April 11, 1728, the sister of Daniel and Anthony, Sr., who was taken on as a charity case in 1776 by the Black River Church of Parish Prince Frederick Winyaw and died at the home of the family being paid to care for her in 1770 under mysterious circumstances. There was an inquest called, and her body was exhumed, but because the "Corps" was "in such a dead state" (36 days later) they were unable to determine the cause of death.
