Eliza was self-reportedly (US census) born in Connecticut abt 1817 and married in 1836 in Digby, so that would be the window that her Dad would have come into Canada. Isaac Bonnell's daughter, Mary Ann, married a fellow named Elisha Budd who was a died-in-the-wool loyalist (coming to Canada in 1783)...so it may have ran in the family. Most of the Viets I found in Connecticut in the early timeframe were farmers but I also know the name got spelled a variety of different ways...I'll see what I can uncover there. I did a bit of digging this afternoon and found a July 20, 1896 article in the Worcester Daily Spy that had some sort of gossip column about the Canadian Provinces - and it mentions A D Bonnell - the wealthy Brooklyn businessman - and how he was pouring thousands of dollars into building a summer home in Nova Scotia. So, his trip with Eliza, and his family in October was probably to check out the finished product. I have notes for burials of a couple of different churches up in NS for various kin...but it is a fairly short list. I have not done anything yet with Canadian cemeteries...the US ones have all been fairly good about inquiries. Thanks, Joann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
