We can only guess which Bonnell line he descended from. We need to locate a male Bonnell/Bunnell cousin descendant from NJ to Il., Mo., Co.for the DNA testing. My ancestor was a son of Reuben's (Reuben m. Catherine Fezler, then divorced; she then m. Elisha Mulford) named David T Bonnell (m. Sarah Kirby) b 1816. David died in Jersyville, Il. One of his sons was named Dayton Bonnell. Other male names were Charles, George, later Herbert, and Benton. My Reuben is numbered 218, I think on Claude Bunnell's website. We will appreciate any help. My Reuben was a cabinetmaker. There is also a Reuben (carpenter who built houses in 1840's and 1850's Md.) listed in Md., born about the same time as my David T Bonnell. The parents of that Reuben are also unknown. I hope we can locate a descendant of his plus a male Bonnell cousin of mine for DNA comparison.
