James, This is the first I have heard of this story on William Wellington Bond but I suppose anything is possible. I thought I would find his father through the Georgia Bonds, I had Charles Bond in mind. No luck there. His son was "Billy" and died early. Then I checked all the Quaker Files that I had bought on C.D.'s. No luck there. I thought sure he belonged to the N.C. Bonds but I have no connection so far. Then, I went to Grayson County, Virginia and check out Stephen Bond who connected to Benjamin Bond and so it goes. I tried to check out all the Bonds who were in Amherst or Goochland County, Virginia at the time our William was there. Nothing. I am wondering if William's middle name might have been Walton or Walker because there are a lot of these names threaded through the Bonds. Oh, well, just food for thought. I am saving every "scrap" of paper I come up with on the Bonds. This puzzle has to fit together somewhere. We have a lot of Bonds who came out of England but there were just too many at one time, maybe. Which line of Bonds from William are you researching? My mother was a Bond from Scott County, Virginia.
