    3. Hi, I'm not the one to whom you directed your answer, but I have a Captain William BOND b. c. 1655 who was involved in bringing rice from the Carolinas and had to put in to New York in 1706 as the vessel was taking and the rice was getting wet. He was also at one time storekeeper of the fort, surveyor, and finally settled in Ulster Co. receiving large land grants. He had only three daughters and his wife is not known. From a copy of an original record it appears that he was educated. He wrote a good hand and his English was correct. All of which leads me to wonder if he was of the Bond English ship builders?? Does this strike any chords? Phyllis J. Miller
