Thank you for replying! Capt. Thomas Harrison was in the Black Hawk Wars and I have quite a bit on him as he is my direct line descendant (but not on his parents which are still unproven and so need more info). Husb: Thomas Harrison, Capt. Born: Dec 26, 1798 Place: Hampshire, VA Died: July 4, 1873 Place: Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess, IL (Plum River Pct. originally) Married: Place: Waterloo, Monroe, IL Wife: (1) Melinda Whaley (2) Ann Todd Bond in 1837; Died: 1839 (they had one son died who died soon after mother) (3) Catherine Elizabeth DeLauney on Nov 4, 1841 "Tommy" (as he was called right up until his death), fought in the Black Hawk Wars and I have a couple stories "Katie" used to tell. Basically, the Plum River and Yellow Creek in Jo Daviess Co. of northern IL. Tommy served under Gen. Whiteside and with Stillman (Tommy gave his version of that defeat). Capt. Thomas Harrison was mustered out at the mouth of the Fov River and returned to the American Bottoms and resumed farming. Tommy had occasional visits from his first cousin, William Henry Harrison, in which they discussed Tommys bsing a "democrat" with old Tippecanoe saying "Tommie, I don't see how you ever got so far wrong." Both enjoyed talking about cattle and especially one new breed of imported cattle from England called "Durhams". William told Tommy he's "send him a Durham bull when I go home." He kept his promise, and William Beard, a yound neighbor of Tommys ( who was returning from courting future wife Rachel Harrison near North Bend, OH and Tommys niece) returned on a steamboat with the bull. By the way, although Tommy insisted they were first cousins, we have not found the link...could it be through one of the Harrison wives? Any ideas? I have more but is this enough? Please let me know as it seems by your e-mail that you may have some knowledge of my GGGGGGrandfather. Thanks again!
