My maternal ancestry is through the Bond lineage. My maternal grandfather was William Walker Bond was born May 2, 1874 in the town of Coeburn, Wise County, Va. He died October 26, 1963 and was buried in the "Bond" Cemetery in the community of Rye Cove, Va.. He was married to Sally Orlena Hillman, born Jun 22, 1876 in Midway, Scott County, Va. and died Dec 25, 1956. William Walker Bond was the son of William Henderson Bond, a Methodist preacher, born Feb 14, 1835 in the community of Rye COve, Scott County, Va. and died Aug 10, 1913. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Newbury (a.k.a. Newberry) who was of Irish descent but was also 1/4 Cherokee Indian. She was born Jun 20, 1831 in Bland County, Va. and died Nov 23, 1925. William Henderson bond was the son of George Bond, born Aug 17, 1798 in the area of Coeburn, Va, in what is known as "Bondtown", having been named for him later. He died Jul 19, 1878. He was married to a Lucy Powers, b. 1810; d. 1894. George Bond was the son of William W. Bond, b. 1776; married to Margaret Davis(Powers) d. ? My information on the bond lineage ceases here, except for sketchy information on the ancestry of Margaret Davis.
