Dear Hope, You and your Grandfather are two lucky people. You have become interested in your Grandfather's history and your ancestry. He will be very pleased that you want to know all about his parents and his grandparents. At first, just sit and talk with him and let him know you are interested in things he did when he was your age, where he lived, what schools and churches he attended. You might be interested in what kind of games they played. Which sports did he like. Did he like to go to the movies and to dances. If you are planning on giving your grandparents a Christmas present I have a great suggestion. Purchase one of those Grandma/Grandpa Remember books. You could ask them the questions in the book or give the book to them and let them fill it in, About a year or so before my Mother passed away we sat down with a recording machine running and I asked her the questions from "Grandmother Remembers". I treasure it today because when I am really missing her I can play the tape and hear her lovely voice and how we laughed and had such a good time going through the book. I thought I knew everything there was to know about her but I found out I didn't. She told me about the silly things her Mother had given her for her trousseau (bridal presents). I hope I have helped you some. With a notebook or loose-leaf binder, start with yourself. Write your name, birth date and and where you were born. Do the same thing with your parents and your brothers and sisters. You are now ready to start entering your grandparents' names and their information. their birthrates and places they were born. Under your grandparents' information you can enter your Dad's brothers and sisters. Don't forget your Mom's parents and this is where you will add the information about your Mom's brothers and sisters. Enough for now. What relation are they to you? My grandfather Marvin Bond married Ethel Wisenhunt. But I'm not sure of dates. I'll have to talk to them.
