Greetings to the Bond List from a newcomer. My research interests are in gaining further information about the origins and ancestors of Jonas and Rose (Wood) Bond from Suffolk County, England. Jonas Bond - b. about 1560, buried Aug. 5, 1601 at Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk. It is thought that he moved to Bury St. Edmunds about 1591, prior to the birth of his 3rd son, the first child whose baptism is recorded there. He owned property at Hawley (Hawkley ?) and at Woolpit. His will dated Jul 30, 1601 was proved at Bury St. Edmunds on Sept. 22, 1601. I am additionally interested in the line of Jonas Bonds descendants that settled in Watertown, Mass.>Central Mass.>W. Mass. and on to Sullivan, Madison County, New York and to many other locations around the USA as it was developed. I am especially interested in gaining further information on the Bond families who moved together to and around Sullivan, New York. This line of the Bond family starts with Jonas and Rose Bonds grandson William and Sarah (Bisco) Bond of Watertown, Mass. William Bond - bap. Sep. 3, 1625, Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, England. d. Dec 14, 1695, Watertown, Middlesex County, Mass. Was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Bond of Bury St. Edmunds. William arrived at Watertown as early as 1630. He and Sarah (Biscoe) Bond had eight children. Well thats it for now. Happy Hunting for your Bond ancestors, its an interesting and very educational journey. Donald Phillips Bond
