Family Origins Software will also allow you to pick and choose which people you want to put into a gedcom for export. It also creates a standard gedcom which is downloadable into any type of software program. It also gives you the option of whether you want to zip the database or keep it as a disc spanning database. I have a basic Family Tree Maker software program. I had to buy it in order to open the files that people would send me. The newest Family Origins program now has a convert feature so I don't really need FTM anymore, except that I like the way it makes wall charts. That's about all I use it for. I'm not selling anything. This is my unsolicited opinion about the software I'm using and why.
