    3. Marva, I have a couple of Greenberry Bonds' in my line, one of them is born in Tishomingo Co. MS. He is listed as Greenberry Jr. married to Josie Joslin. However, I do not show one with the children you have listed. A few weeks ago I got a note from a lady who is researching a Greenberry Bonds who married (?) Williams and listed these same children. I'll look for that address and try to connect the two of you. 3. Hi, I am trying to trace my Bond ancestry. Although my research has revealed much about the Bond family, I am unable to trace my own lineage past my great grandfather whose name was Lafayette Bond. He lived in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the time of my grandfather Lester Ashton Bond's birth in 1888. Lafayette was married to a women whose maiden name was possibly Quinn. He had another son whose name I don't know. Lester had three sons, James, Frank (or Mutt as he is affectionately called) and my father deceased William Edward Bond born 12/24/16 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    3. I can't put my hands on the reference, but I read of a family of shipbuilders named Bond who were here in the very early days of this country. Does anyone know who built the Mayflower? I believe it may have been a family named Bond, shipbuilders in England. Please correct me if I am wrong on this. I've been wanting to research that, but haven't had time. Maybe there are some Mayflower descendants out there who might know all about it. Genie Holt

    3. Hi, Tom et. al: I have a copy of An American Family by Roger M. Williams, which recounts 4 generations of Bonds, down to Ga. Congressman, Julian BOND, b. 1940. His father was Horace Mann Bond, b. 1904; his father, James Bond, b. 1863, Anderson Co., KY. His mother "Aunt" Jane was a black slave belonging to the wife (Belinda Arthur) of Rev. Preston Bond. Rev. Preston BOND, a Methodist minister, was among the most prominent citizens during the first 50 years of Anderson Co. His father William F. BOND (Jr.) (b. Cumberland Co., VA, 1786) was the son of Wm. BOND (Rev. Sold.) of Hanover Co., VA & Frances BALLOU of unk. Wm. Bond, Sr. may have had brothers named John BOND & Steven BOND, but we don't have documentation for sibs. They may have gone to Guilford Co. NC, and Swain Co., NC, according to Florence Solomon Rice. Nova Scotia connections do not jump out at us at this time . . . any other takers? 3. Hi, Did you ever hear of a Captain William Bond, b. c. 1655. In the late 1600's and early 1700's he was captain of a ship which went from the Carolinas with rice to NY and on to Amsterdam. He settled in Ulster Co., NY. He was educated as I've seen photocopies of records he wrote. Looks to be an Englishman. But I have NO clue as to where he came from. The New England Bonds would seem the most likely. Any ideas or suggestions? Phyllis J. Miller

    3. Tom, I intended to send my reply to you privately, but my finger on the send button was quicker than my brain. :-) However, this might be of interest to others on the list as I have seen other inquiries about Bonds in Nova Scotia. I found the following info in a history of the descendants of Joseph and John Bond, sons of Benjamin and Ann (Paradise) Bond of Wiltshire, England. In 1793 Edward Bond of "Roan" County, N.C., son of Joseph and Martha (Rogers) Bond "went on an extended visit among Friends and kindred and also visiting Friends' meetings in Virginia and Pennsylvania". He kept a dairy during this four month trip. One entry was, "He also visited Elizabeth, the widow of his cousin Abraham Bond, deceased. She had three children, John and Levi and daughter Mary. Says he did not get to see her or John, as John was gone to Nova Scotia". It didn't say were Elizabeth lived, but he had been visiting in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Bucks Counties in Pennsylvania just before this entry. There also was no indication of when John went to Nova Scotia, but as they were Quakers, my guess is that it was around the time of the revolution. As my John Bond should have been on his way to Kentucky in 1793, not in Nova Scotia, I didn't pursue this John any further so don't know if he came back to Pennsylvania, or stayed in Nova Scotia. If you would like more information on the families of Joseph and John Bond, the book is on film at the LDS Family History library in Salt Lake City, Utah, and can be loaned through local LDS Family History libraries. Hope this helps, and happy hunting. Phyllis in Phoenix leotaphyls@aol.com

    3. Hi Phyllis Thanks for that information. You wouldn't happen to know if that John Bond was Black, would you? There were a number of Black Bond names in a book called "Bond, an American Family" published about 15 years ago. It was mostly people of color, and there was a John Bond , who was refused a land grant in Nova Scotia about that time, because he was black.. I am white, but I do like James Brown and Bob Marley.. Maybe my descendants were lighter than others.. :) >A John Bond from the Joseph( S.C. I think) and John Bond line went to Nova Scotia around the start of the Revolution. 3. >Ther is no apparent connection between John Bond of Newbury and the >Gloucester Bond line who believe came from Naov Scotia. Actually, my guess, it that the Bond family line, from Nova Scotia, Canada,... Came out of the Glousester or Boston area. If anyone has any indications of a BOND line, which immigrated to Canada, along the East Coast (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland) I actually believe that the missing information on the origin of the Nova Scotia BOND, will turn out to be a family from England, that immigrated to Nova Scotia, via the USA East Coast States. Anyone who has any research which supports this theory, please respond. T'anks. Tom ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Mass. and on to I am interested in all the Bond lists from the Mass area.. I have a GGFather from Gloucester Mass, but as I am a Canadian, and do not know all the little areas around Mass, and the abbreviations of each State, I wanted to ask that anyone with a search in the Mass area, leave the full details of the location. Anyone with a John Benjamin Bond, Benjamin Bond, or Capt. Charles Wallace Bond, in the area close to Boston, please let me know. Gloucester is only an hour away from Boston, and Charles had a home there in the 1800's. There is also a BOND STREET at the entrance of Gloucester, that I believe was a focal point for the Bonds that I am searching.
